The real reason is because Guzman is a slick african american.

At 122 pounds Guzman wasn't known at all. Again the biggest fight Guzman got and most exposure was against Soto
Its not so much that he wasn't known, but more that he was AVOIDED. Nobody wanted a part of a guy who was a defensive wizard and with such speed and power.

Nobody wanted to fight Guzman then. That was the fight I wanted to see. Instead they were digging up corpses.

guzman wasn't exactly fighting world class fighters at 122 either. in fact pacquiao was fighting the much tougher opponents in comparison.

I think Guzman could have gave Pacquiao from back then some trouble...seems Pacquiao has definently improved since then...

I'm not referring to 122. I'm referring to 126 and above. And regardless, most felt Guzman and Soto (at the time) would be his toughest tests.

Pacquiao was too busy chasing fallen legends like Morales and Barrera.

Even at 126 & above Pac was fighting the better opposition. He always had (in comparison with Guzman). Soto was a great win for Guzman, his best...all I'm saying is Pac fought Marquez instead and I don't think anyone can fault Pac for fighting Marquez (which is the fight fans wanted for 4 years).
