But this is a boxing forum. Please don't post this here. This board has an MMA section. Post it there.

Far and away prefer Boxing, but I like MMA.....until the fight gets taken to the mat. I can't stand the barefoot wrestling aspect of MMA.

If it was cage fighting with shoes, I'd have to give it the respect it would deserve as being very very close to the real fighting (street fighting).

Boxing though, when styles are matched up right, has drama that no other sport comes close to.

please don't come in here with that ****. Tonight's main event was a slugfest for the last few rounds and a sloppy one at that. Yet boxing elitists would be the first to jump on an MMA fight that looked anything similar

Just tonight, Ortiz vs. Berto was a better fight than any MMA fight I've ever seen. And Ortiz vs. Berto probably doesn't crack the top 100 of the greatest boxing matches of all time. Boxing, at an elite level can't be topped IMO
Berto/Ortiz easily cracks 100 in my book. I say that because the best man in the fight goes towards greatness and the loser is totally lost in the division. It went both ways and they both fought like hell.

theres no merit in a poll to find out if mma and boxing fans like both if its in the mma section of a boxing forum

its obviously gonna come up with ppl who like both

            thats why its here.

the answer to the poll is whats important to me.

the comments are a courtesy really

I love them both. Its like saying I cant love boxing and football. I cant see why people cant get it through their heads that its two different sports that are not to be compared in that manner. The best boxer gets crushed in MMA and the best MMA fighter gets crushed in boxing. Its a simple equation.

im not gonna throw a counter point. to each their own.

i used to hate watching jits cos i am not gay and it looked gay. i know thats wrong, but **** it. im in an honest mood. i felt the same about wrestling. and the striking in mma is sub par.

however..all in fighting is interesting when you understand it. i like predicting how it will go and although i now still hate wrestling as boring, the jits and gnp is interesting.

i dont see the sports as competitors as they have different plus points.

mma is kinda like a triathalon of combat sports

yeah i dont necessarily consider the ground game gay, seeing guys like randy couture and rampage slam the **** out of people, or watching demian maia and shinya aoki pull submissions outta nowhere is cool, but its never gonna compare to wars like we saw tonight, or rd5 of morales-barrera, ali vs frazier, etc or even watching sweat pea or PBF stand against the ropes and slip and parry 5-10 punches in a row.

but like you said, to each his own.

eh, its fighting you never know what'll happen. Ray Mercer vs. Tim Sylvia, or James Toney vs. Randy Couture.
