20-30 years ago the heavyweights are the cruiserweights of today.
A 250 lb Sam Peter in his prime would've taken Shaver's best shot and put him out cold like Jeremy Williams.
Especially considering Shavers is a crude puncher with a weak chin. Wake up.

Approximately half of Klitschkos opponents would have ruled the 1970s. Let alone the Klitschkos themselves.
I watched too many footage of these "golden age men" (or rather "boys") to be impressed. They suck. There is nothing special about them (except Foreman).
And as I said before: People call it golden because it was such a p*ss.Last edited by hweightblogger; 04-15-2011, 04:03 PM.

What-was-then-called heavyweights weighed 175-215 at fight night.
Thus the 1970s heavyweight division is actually a cruiserweight division (or as I call it CakaH-weight = Cruiserweight Also Known As Heavyweight) while nowadays' cruiser division is what was called heavyweight division.
It's a complete switch of terms.
Ali's era (Ali+opps+opps' opps) consists of 1381 boxers.
Their average weight in the 2642 fights that they fought against each other was... hold your hat... 199 lbs. That wouldn't even be considered a genuine cruiser today.
Something like our heavyweight division didn't exist back then.
All their stats ("wins", "KOratio", ...) are near worthless compared to Klitschkos' heavyweight stats.
Ali's MEDIAN KOwin (within 12) is 197 lbs.
WOOOOW! That would put modern heavies in a state of shock I guess.
His heaviest is 223 lbs. That's below the AVERAGE opponent of Klitschko.
ADDITIONALLY Ali outweighed his opponents far more than Wlad does.
ADDITIONALLY many of his KOs are contested.
Let alone, that the heavyweight *cough* world title was basically an US-internal contest comparable to the EBU title nowadays.
Ali's career looks somewhat good on paper but it's basically worthless in today's terms.
Let me repeat THAT THE ONLY REASON people think that Ali (or his opponents) would be competitive is THE MISNOMER "heavyweight" which is illegitimately used for eras 70 years ago.
We actually don't even live in a superheavyweight era anymore (200+), we live de facto in an, let's call it, megaweight era (215+), while Ali was living in a 175+ era.Last edited by hweightblogger; 04-15-2011, 04:00 PM.

Additionally you ignore the multiple injuries Briggs suffered against Vitali thus Vitali (though technically not ruled a KO) punished him far more.

But to DELETE posts which feature even the slightest criticism of The Clay (for example The Clay's own quotes) is simply WRONG.
However it shows what I have been telling all along: The Clay's followers are in reality a sect of Claytomaniacs watching his fights on their knees.Last edited by hweightblogger; 04-15-2011, 04:02 PM.
