That's why there's a lot of black fans who know Mayweather but don't support him.

Contrary to the forum consensus, most people do care who a fighter is outside of the ring.

As a Mexican fan, the only African-American fighter I have a genuine interest in is Bernard Hopkins. He's semi-humble, smart, and speaks genuinely.
Hopkins is a great boxer but also a racist prick,

these type of threads be gettin' outta hand....I swear..smh

Lamont has a point...its more liquor stores in the black community than boxing gyms....my nephew is 13 yrs old and the ONLY fighters he know of is Floyd, B.Hop and Pacman....Pacman gets promoted as the dude who can beat Floyd so his name is heavy on the block ...so the kids are more into Kobe, LeBron, D-Wade, D-Rose, Mello and those characters....they get to see them on a nightly basis where as they get to see the Lamont's and Tim Bradley's like every 3-6 months....boxing aint that popular no more in the African American cipher....clowns like Rick Ross and Soldier Boy gets more love than REAL dudes like Tim Bradley and Sugar Shane....I love my ppl but sometimes they make me so ****in mad!!!

all I can tell Lamont is...just live with it bruh...it is what it is...no matter how much this issue is blown around...it will NEVER change

Only to Puerto Ricans and only to sell a fight.

Other than that, he keeps it real.

            Really?

            I'm a black fan.

Explain to me exactly why I'd personally relate to Floyd Mayweather over say, Chad Dawson or Shane Mosley.

            I'll be waiting...

I don't know, Devon get's a lot of support. Floyd does, not sure about Tim Bradley. I don't think mr peterson has a spark to him that attracts more people. The first three fighters are doing things and have had better fights

No, the black boxer needs to play the role of villian or heel to get mainstream attention from WHITE AMERICA, not BLACK AMERICA.

Overall, blacks don't support boxing or MMA as much as other sports like the NBA and NFL.

Bottom line is the average black household in America is barely surviving. You're never going to see 20,000 black people selling out the MGM Grand supporting a fighter. Its damn near an economic impossibilty.

The real question is if race is so unimportant as most people try to say, then why aren't white americans supporting black american fighters??

Why aren't white folks supporting SHane Mosley, Chad Dawson, the Peterson Bros, etc...?

Those are respectable black boxers (just like whitey likes). Where's the support?

Or is it all about race?
