for all yall that don't get the picture by now USA is still on the racial BS.
1. Fighters need to fight at home more to grow a fanbase. Think about it. As good as Vernon forrest was I honestly don't think he had to many fights in Atlanta. We get on ward for fighting at home but real talk that's the way to make sure you got that fan support everyfight. Spinks tried to fight at home. Taylor fought his big fights in Memphiswhich isn't far from his home.
2. Don't charge so much. The damn nose bleeds be 200+. I wanted to go to the Shane/Ctto fight so bad but I just couldn't afford the flight + fight + hotel. The $50 ppv started talking loud in my ear.
3. Bring the fights to the fans don't have them travel to see you. That's the reason why UFC swept across so fast. Back in the day boxing traveled they need to get back to that.
4. Boxing for blacks died with Tyson. Most blacks today don't have a clue who these boxers are now days. All they keep saying is there's no HWs. I tell them towatch the lil guys but they show no interest.Comment

The bottom line is, there are less and less black boxing hero's.
In the black community, boxing used to be big, it's not big anymore. I see more Hispanics, Asians (now because of Manny) and Europeans into boxing more so than black Americans.
Sorry but it's true. Basketball and American football have taken the place of the Joe Lewis', Ali's, Leonard's, etc......
All young black kids have to look up to now is Floyd and the way he acts, he isn't an example at all.Comment

Boxing on the whole is slowing dying. You can look even back to the 80's. It was still on network television, the boxing talent pool itself was 10x what it is now. Now it has become so watered down, we have so called champions that would be lucky to be considered even fringe contenders back then.
It all started due to greed. Once boxing disappeared from the airwaves, not only did people stop watching, but also potential fighters moved elsewhere.
It is not a black thing or anything else. Boxing only has so many fans. The biggest names get the only mass attention from those fans. The rest have to hope to get a contract with a cable channel to make money etc. I see Peterson's point, but only to an extent. Instead of worrying about fans, he could be out there, promoting the game and himself in his home town. He has to make noise, just like every other fighter should.
Bring more boxing back to home town arenas. Give the local fans and media something to talk about. You may not make as much money at first, but the rewards will come back in time.Comment

Guys are saying it shouldn't be about race but then say there isn't any Black heros or heavyweights for them to root for.Comment

I put that same guy on my ignore list earlier today for something ****** he said earlier in my thread asking what are Judah's chances of stopping Marquez. First poster on my ignore list in this account. That guy is a fucking, deep sea creature.

It's not all nationality.
It's attitude.
That's why there's a lot of black fans who know Mayweather but don't support him.
Contrary to the forum consensus, most people do care who a fighter is outside of the ring.
As a Mexican fan, the only African-American fighter I have a genuine interest in is Bernard Hopkins. He's semi-humble, smart, and speaks genuinely.Comment

Nationality? Race? Mumbo jumbo
Let me see, here's a list of my fav fighters. Not necessarily the best fighters:
Mike Tyson. Freakin killer
Thomas Hearns: the one and only hitman
Ray Boom Boom Mancini: not even a good boxer but will not quit punching.
Roberto Duran: Hands of stone
Suger Ray leonard: De La Hoya who? He fought everyone and won most of the permier fights.
Manny Paquiao: what almpley said. The greates offensive fighter ever.
Sugar Shane Mosely: hard working fighter and took on everyone.
Antonio Barrera: the guy who took down prince hasem. I hated that guy.
Let me see here: i have several black fighters, italian american, acouple of mexicans, a filipino tsunami, and others i did not list, like an argentian, a puerto rican. They habe sonething in common. They fight for a knockout. I ahte seeing two. Iuter punchers fighting. Its like watching paint dry. If you want more attentian, then fight like a madman. Wo cares if you lose one, twice or gazilian times. If you box like a warrior, then we will see you fight. You ever see the boxers faces in the undercards? They look like they just took a shower and rubbed aqua velva. But when you get to the championship fights, you end up seeing two real champions going at it and their faces look like swollen, bloodied cabbage patch dolls. So for lamont peterson doing a PBF, asking for fellow americans or black race for more support is ridiculas.Comment
