I have a difficult time believing that simply rubbing a glove over someones face could open that bad of a cut.

I just took a boxing glove and did it to myself and got nothing.

Hard to believe a nasty cut like that OVER THE EYE could be cause by a glove.

It was a typical headbutt cut to the skin over the ridge of bone over Vitali's eye, caused by a deliberate sneaky headbutt after the punch. .

Didn't need to be a headbutt with Lewis. A hairbutt is sufficient enough to cause such a cut.. all it takes is a light graze & from what i'm seeing seems like Lewis' braids are very close to his eye after the punch..although i;m not sure if the cut happens after the initial punch or when they are tied up & Lennox is holding & hitting. This video is not so clear.

Margarito had just as bad cuts against Pacquiao(caused by punches), and cuts over the eye are actually pretty easy to get since the skin has almost direct contact with the bone with no flesh inbetween. especially the corner, where Vitali's cut was.

Ill go ahead and download the HD quality video youre talking about, but so far I just catch see any headbutt.

I can't believe I'm responding to this ******ed nonsense but even if, even if, there was a headbutt (sneaky or otherwise) the motion of Vitali's head meant it would have hit him on the right side of the face not the left. It also looks any headclash would have been his own fault given the way he dips his head in when they clinch whilst Lewis remains perfectly stationary.

But hey, repeat a lie enough times and it becomes the truth, huh?

The main damage was done in the third with a hit and hold shot, classic Lewis technique that he did throughout his career, the eye was already marked up at this point but you can see the blood piss out pretty clearly after the shot. Vitali was probably a bit naive to allow him this shot and should have been holding Lewis to avoid it or doing the same himself. You can see his left arm drops off allowing Lewis to deliver it.

I certainly dont see a head clash.

It's a hair clash..it's Lewis braids that possibly opened up the cut & if this was really the case all these years without investigation.. Vitali wrongfully lost that fight & actually messed with both alltime greats legacy..it's a travesty if it was indeed Lewis' braids that caused the cut & NOT the punch..the difference being according to the RULES..they would've went to the scorecards & Vitali would;ve been awarded the title & then maybe we would've had our rematch if Lennox had to go out with a loss & his aSS HANDED tO HIM as Vk WAS IMPAIRED & STILL schooled him. That chaNGES everything.

clean right hand to the eye..their heads did come collide..but it was to vitalis right eye..cut came from the right hook

headbutt was to vitalis right eye..cutt was on the left cause by a right hook
