Vitali was dominating Lewis until that sneaky headbutt that opened up the big gash over his eye, as they came together right after the punch that Lewis fans and Klitschko haters claim caused the cut.

There was no blood after the punch, but when Lewis pulls back after they came together, Vitali was bleeding a lot.

It all happened in a couple of seconds.

Even with blood blinding him in that eye, and despite Lewis hitting while holding and other fouls, Vitali was still doing well up until the end.

Interesting.....as i'd have to look at the tape again..always seemed strange that a punch could cause such a deep gash like that & immediate flooding... in one of the slow motion shots..does show that Lewis' braids is right in Vitali's mug... There's a reason why they make him tie it up during fights. I always assumed that it was 100% proven that the punch caused the cut..but now i'm not so sure. Vitali CLEARLY stated it was a headbutt after the fight & stated it in a more believable fashion than when Mike Tyson uttered the same to Mills Lane after he took a piece of Holy's ear.... Man..if all these years of saying it was a punch when it was indeed an illegal blow..... the crow that would be eaten here would be enough to feed an entire malnutritioned country.

I think we NEED tO put this to the same slow motion test used to determine that Vitali indeed landed a punch on Solis.

Half his face wasn't ripped up, it was just the typical cut along the ridge of the bone over the eye after a headbutt, similar to Winky's cut after Hopkins got him with the head. But it was a bad one.

Later, Lewis rubbed the laces of his gloves in Vitali's face, creating an abrasion under the injured eye. He was attempting to re-open the cut over the eye at that point, but made a new one under the eye. But that second cut had nothing to do with stopping the fight, it was the first one.

I have a difficult time believing that simply rubbing a glove over someones face could open that bad of a cut.

I just took a boxing glove and did it to myself and got nothing.

You can barely see it there, very poor quality and not enough frames per second. But you can see their heads coming together after the punch.
