I forgot all about that. Thought you were talking about the first time. Blame HBO, they paid Berto the same to fight a bum that they would have to fight Mosley.

I dont like berto but i dont think he duck Mosley, He signed to fight him before so i would give him the benefit of doubt, They just couldnt agree to terms in the second negotiation due to Mosley embarrassing effort or lack of it in his previous fight.

HBO gets some of the blam but not all of it..They get the blame for backing Berto so much they gave him a dumbazz contract..But its the fighters to take the fights,HBO was ready to baack a Cintron Berto match and Berto or his handlers(aka haymond)did not want him to take it..But its the fighters job to say he wants the fight,I gave Khan a lot. Of crap when he was not fighting anybody but he fought Maidana and seems to wanna fight Bradley because at the end of the day that will help build his future towards bigger fights..I also don't believe Khans handlers want himto fight Bradley as well as they did not want him to fight Maidana..But its the fighters job to take the fights not the handlers, they just present the fights..

What does Mosley losing or being out classed by Mayweather(viewed as one of the best fighters in the sport)have to do with Berto asking for 50/50??When he has never fought on a PPV and is not a draw??Mayweather KO Hatton did you hear Paulie ask for 50/50??Paulie was not a draw and Hatton has the better name..Ya dig Berto should have took the risk beacause the reward would have been a future HOF on his resume an would have made him that more legit..

i thought he signed the fight until the tragedy.... unless im missing something, the guy is not bad for boxing, maybe he should fight mike jones next... but its not many big names for him to fight right now outside of cotto, pac, floyd, or paul williams.... maybe clottey?

There is sooooooooo much to say about the conversations that have taken place in this thread. I honestly dont know where to start.........I got it!!!!!!!!! Lets start with the fact that I am a fan of both Shane Mosley and Andre Berto.

Rome. You know you are my Homie, my Ace, my Potna. But you are wrong on so many levels in regards to calling Berto a duck for the 2nd round of negotiations(especially in the business sense of the matter). You are wrong about Mosley vs. Mora. You are wrong about Mosely and JMM's drawing power(We all now that JMM has a hard time drawing huge crowds, as well as Shane himself).

There are very few facts that help Mosley(No longer the WBA WW Champ after 05/01/10)in his case for turning down Berto(The WBC WW Champ, regardless of the fact that he won a vacant title. Hell if you want to talk about vacant title grabbers Cotto should be on the lips of many, remember Paul Williams......Yeah that guy was a WW title holder I wonder who has THAT belt now, could it be Manny?????? Where did he get that belt???????? Oh Yeah..........Cotto).

Weither you all want to admit it or not. These Belts(WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF)play a very important role in negotiations for bouts. Please see break down below.

                1st round of negotiations.......
                Mosley+Ring Legend+WBA WW Title= 60% purse.
                Berto+Young Undefeated Champion+WBC WW Title= 40% purse.

                Fair Deal.

                2nd round of negotiations.......
                Mosley+Ring Legend-WBA WW Title=50% purse.
                Berto+Young Undefeated Champion+WBC WW Title=50% purse.

                Fair Deal.

See it's logical, not hard to follow at all.

Now I agree that Shane is a sure fire HOFer and a current ring Legend. But it seems alot of ya'll are living off of Shane's past glory years, and thus inciting that as a case for Shane to turn down a Championship fight. He got ya'll goin with Margo, but before the Margo fight talk around town was that he should hang um up, and he's fading(see Mayorga fight.......last second KO, but was having more of a dificult time than expected)

Look at it like this Joe Louis was NOT the A-side on the Marciano vs. Louis match up, regardless of the fact that Joe was a legend. Same rule applies in a sense with Shane(albeit Shane is not THAT far past it, but nonetheless he showed in the Mayweather fight that he is somewhat past it for the most part, unless you all are willing to admit that Floyd is THAT good. Which I doubt any of you are willing to do).

So in my eyes. Young Champion WBC Belt Holder vs. Ring Legend coming off of an embrassing drubbing on the down side of his career equals 50/50. Losing the belt has to cost something, and it cost Shane 10% at the negotiation table. That was something that Shane was NOT willing to accept, and it's his right to not accept it as he has earned the right to pick and choose his opponents. But considering the business dynamics involved. It was a fair deal. I am willing to field any questions in regards to this post.

                  J. Mike Jones has shown in his last two fights that Berto might be a little bit too much to handle at this point. He needs a little more time. But he did make some marked improvments in the ring, and will be ready in a years time IMHO.

Hey Chiefy you my dude and we are not going to agree as we don't agree here..Berto cantbe compared to Marcaiano, different time one belt and Marciano fought his way to the top while Berto is feasting on lower weight scraps(not even the top dogs)if he would have unified the belts at WW or fought anyone of merit I could see him asking for 50/50 or even more..But that was not the case,he did nothing while Mosley fought one of the top boxers in the sport today..Yes he lost but Berto did not do himself any favors fight Quintana..Dude was out of the ring how long??And the last time in the ring against a legit fighter was badley KO'd..

Belts mean **** dude Mayweather thought us that, its really about winning belts here and there but really who's name is on that resume..Right now Bertos resume would look ten times better if he had Shanes name with a W sitting next to it..I diig what ya saying but I totally disagree,I also believe guys like Berto is what's killing the sport..Do you believe Bradley or Khan would over price themselves to get a shot at a Cotto or a Pac or May??You neeed these nameson ya resume..Berto does not believe in himself which is why he ask for that money..If he would have lost to Mosley who many were saying was shot Bertos career would be over..
