no we're talkin about when they were in position to call the shots
DLH-Floyd would have never happened unless Oscar said so...that was Oscar's cherrypick
when Roy got to shot-callin level, he cherrypicked a HW
when Floyd got to shot-callin level, he cherrypicked a LWComment

Well I didn't know inventing levels was part of the argument but okay you win.no we're talkin about when they were in position to call the shots

hmmm...tough one. While Roy's win over Toney is better than anything Floyd did, maybe overall Floyd has beaten better competition....
Roy's lightheavyweight division wasnt stellar, and some of the bigger names on his record were either past it(McCallum) or not yet prime(Hopkins). But the Hopkins win was still pretty damn good despite that.
One problem I have with BOTH of their records is that they didnt actually clean out most the divisions they were both in...OK, Mayweather definitely did that at 130lbs, but not at the other weight classes. Roy almost cleaned out LHW, but then there was Michaelsbowowskistys who he never fought.
Difficult...I might actually have to go with Mayweather here. Roy's wins over Toney and Hopkins are pretty damn huge and better than Mayweather's wins over Castillo and Corrales, but Mayweather has a lot of other solid too...
but at the same time Roy has some pretty underrated wins as well, like over Castro, Johnson, and Harding...not to mention his absolute dominance and the fact he has the better big wins.
hmmm.
On second thought Ill shelve this until Mayweather's career is officially over.Comment

Im not here too much longer Oct 08...the forum was alot better than...there was alot more actual debate and way less trolling....Some of the arguments are funny and guys are just winding people up but now for the last 18months or so (Floyd/Manny) its just constant garbage....Thats the thing. On here it is something wrong with prefering a fighter if they arent over the hill, retired or dead. That **** is nuts. I wish I could have been on a Boxingscene when ROY was primed. I bet the hate would have been unmeasured by the one's that kiss his ass now.Comment

The Toney win and moving up to heavy to win a title beats anything Mayweather ever did, but Mayweather has the quantity.
Very close to me, but I'm saying Mayweather, and that kills me as a huge Roy fan.Comment

I agreed with one of your earlier points about ppl only judging on recent history but from my memory of your former posts and now in this one ur just pure hating on floyd...marquez was a tune up for floyds return...his ")" is everthing to his marketing ability...if he loses that, his ability to create $$$ falls dramatically. most fighters after long layoffs have tune ups. He went on to fight Mosley who all the haters on this site said he wouldn and i remember a certian fighter/trainer turning down Mosleys offer to fight them even at a catchweight if i remember correctly...
why cant we celebrate to great fighters, Roy and floyd without nitpicking everything.Comment
