I dont know where he ranks. Boxing is too hard to judge like that. All I know is Hopkins >> Hagler and Monzon p4p. And he would have beaten both.

Yes I've seen multiple Hagler and Monzon fights.

ATG 95-100 range. His a fringe contender at best imo
ATG's are fighters who push themselves and constantly seek tough opponents, who they are willing to fight multiple times. ATG's are not fighters who only want to fight guys smaller than themselves

I'd have him as a top five middleweight. Top 30-40 overall.

One of the reasons why many of the old-timers are held in such high regard is because they were "first," or "among the first." You cannot underestimate the power of the mind in physical achievement. If somebody else did "it", it's suddenly possible for you to do "it". Conversely, if "it's" never been done before, it's much more difficult to find the inspiration and will to be the first. Bernard's longevity is amazing; but he owes some of it to the men who climbed that mountain before him.
          great post!

Explain how he is better than them P4P, please.

If you have him lower at Middleweight I struggle to see how he is greater P4P.

His Lightheavyweight resume is really dead average.

BH is a strange one and hard to call, but he seems to be getting more appreciated of late gathering momentum.

When he was young and defending his middleweight titles time after time, people were saying he was picking on smaller guys, like the titos and DLHs of this world, or the people he fought just werent all that good. Those accusations were often thrown at him.

But BH is doing things of late people dont think a man of his age should be doing and thats where he is getting most of his credit now. Even though the Pascals, and Tarvers and Pavliks arent the greatest fighters ever, not even close, they are opponents that are expected to beat BH mainly cos of his age. So its hard to assess how much credit BH actually deserves.

He can beat these guys but he couldnt beat JT when he was younger? Its confusing people a bit and people dont know quite what to think! But i think BHs experience is counting for a lot thats for sure.
