The Hakaar "fight" was much worse than ANYTHING perpetrated by Jones. At least Jones, no matter HOW good his opponents were, and some were VERY good, made them ALL look like beginners he was so superior.

Hopkins was never in the same class as Jones. Not even nearly.
    Of course I mean "Hokums".

    • anyone who wants to accuse hopkins of "cheating" or using "dirty tricks"

      Rules of Boxing

You cannot hit with an open glove, the inside of the glove, the wrist, the backhand, or the side of the hand.

every punch calzaghe throws is illegal but then again hopkins took too long after being lowblowed what a cheater!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was a judge for nearly 5 years, amateur it's true, but in those days we fought like pros, no head guards and that phony refereeing junk, nor glove markings to make sure the "punch" is legit . I also fought for years and had a very good record.

So don't tell me how to do this or that, I was doing it all before your father was born.

ray close 1-should have lost a close fight
nigel benn-should have lost a close fight
rochigiani-close fight lots scored it for rochigiani
ray close 2-should have lost a close fight
              costa-clearly lost
              storey-knockout win
              schommer-clearly lost
wharton-close fight some people scored it for wharton
collins 1-lost in a close fight
              collins2-dominated

wow what a dominate fighter indeed. he only clearly won 1 out of his last 10 fights. some fights were close enough to give to him but he probably should have lost the majority of them. and calzaghe beating eubank coming out of retirement is a great win?
Talk about "rewriting" history, you should get a rewriting award.

              • Eubank was simply the best when Joe beat him.

What does landing cleanly have to do with aggression being effective? Joe's aggressive caused Hopkins not to throw, back away, and constantly hold.

Joe certainly was the ring general and commanding the pace from round 4 on, why else would Hopkins fake low blows because he was tired if he was controlling the pace?

A bit of an arrogant stance to take outright saying that all of these hardcore fans don't know how to score fights when they watch more boxing than 99% of ppl on the planet, don't you think?

not to mention Eubank at that point in his career had questionable decisions over guys like Ray Close and Henry Wharton(from what Ive heard from British fans that followed his career, havent seen the fights myself).
I'm sorry you are wrong, or at very least, not right...... Eubank took exactly 1 year off after his razor thin SD loss against Steve Collins, IN IRELAND YET.....it couldn't have been a home town decision.....could it?? .

Even today this is very commonplace. Mosley took 16 months off before he fought Mayweather.....remember....Huh??

And he then had 2 fights within the next 5 months, both at exactly 10 lbs over his weight for his reported weighin for Calzaghe less than 6 months later. Heds had only TWO losses, both razor thin and questionable, against the SAME guy, who "may" have just "had his number"...

So he was a good opponent, and was chosen by the WBO who's title he'd held for years, and lost just 2 years before. I don't see a "shot" fighter in these facts. Just wasn't as good as he had been. Who is after 47 fights these days?? Only Klitschko I think.

I'm going to bed, goodnight all.
