"Sugar" Ray Robinson became a legend at welterweight and finished at middleweight. Roberto Duran was legendary at lightweight, but became a household name at welterweight. "Sugar" Ray Leonard was a marquee name at welterweight; his star began to fade at middleweight. Where are the biggest names now? At welterweight. Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao: Both these men started at lower weight classes, but didn't truly become huge until they reached this magical division.

i can see where larry coming from but i agree with this a lil more. so many great, great fighters have been welterweight champion. it sounds great to me too. the welterweight champion of the world. music to my ears. lol.
