SO Should the Mexicans say, "Hey Puerto Ricans I'm not taking anything from Juanma. He has a big heart and punches hard. He beat Rafa fair but everyone knows that Rafa is past his prime. No way Juanma beats the Rafa Marquez of 5 years ago."

Your excuses work both ways homie. Compare the fights. Rafa actually went up in weight which Calderon isn't doing. Calderon is less than a year older than Rafa and has been through less wars. Check your statements.

I noticed that bro over his right eye...reminds me a little of when Israel Vasquez fought Rafael Marquez the 4th time. Vasquez's was worse but Calderon's looks bad. A couple shots to the eye and it will be spewing blood. Good for him I guess that Segura seemed to target the body and not the head.

You got a point bro but Calderon is the smaller guy in the division with no punching power. The boxing skills , move and reflex was his strong so when you are 36 you don't have the same reflex anymore. So tell me what his suppose to do ? Brawl with Segura ?

Rafa still has a punch which never goes away. One thing that goes away is speed and that is the element Calderon cant afford to lose if he wants to maintain his position as an elite fighter.

That is the whole point. Calderon can't win. Just like Rafa couldn't beat Juanma. Juanma was bigger, younger and faster. Rafa was fighting just his second fight at 126 and was 35 and didn't have the same reflexes anymore.

The fact that Rafa hurt Juanma in the 4th round and almost dropped him and the fact that Calderon was able to land so many shots early on Segura is a testament to both fighters. Both were great champs who are passed their primes.

This is called passing the torch. 9 times out of 10 in these fights the old guy gets whooped. Oscar vs Chavez. Rafa vs Juanma and now Calderon and Segura. It is pretty similar. Juanma was 27 and Rafa 35. Segura is 28 and Calderon is 36.

Every once in a while the old guy beats the odds and pulls it off. (Hopkins vs Pavlik comes to mind) Usually the younger guy wins. Next month you have Jorge Arce who's best weight was 112 and 115 fighting Vazquez Jr at 122. Arce isn't a really junior featherweight and his best days are behind him. Too many wars. Vazquez will crush him. Hell look at Manny vs Mosley. Who wins that fight 5 years ago? Even the Manny of today vs the Mosley of 5-6 years ago would be a close fight.

Realistic Mexican fans know Arce probably loses to Vazquez Jr. just like realistic Rican fans know Calderon will probably lose to Segura...nothing wrong with rooting for your guy but I think fans should be real ab out analyzing the fights.

Rafa had a punch at 122. He hasn't shown a punch at 126. He wobbled Juanma but Juanma was wobbled by Mtagwa so we can't say that was so much the punch as maybe Juanma's chin. Rafa is about the same age as Calderon. Rafa had just been through 3 wars with Vasquez and doesn't move like he used to or have the same hand speed.

Calderon had speed in the Segura fight but Segura did what no one else had done and that was go at the body religiously and took away Calderon's best strength. Brilliant game plan by Segura.
