I think Pernell is an all around superior boxer and would have outpointed him with his jab and get that body game working

      Absolutely.

But that doesn't always mean he wins the head to head.

Although I think Whitaker does still win. Floyd could win. Just not very likely.

One thing I find interesting is that Mayweather always seems to elect to fight offensively against southpaws.

I have to admit, Mayweather's outing against Judah kind of suggests a Whitaker win. It would also be quite interesting to see how Mayweather dealt with a jab as awesome as Whitaker's...but I also would like to see how Whitaker would deal with a right hand like Mayweather's.

Tough, close fight. I could see a controversial decision here at any weight. But I have to give the edge to Pea who threw a solid jab at a distance, used great movement and could match Floyd in close quarters.

Pernell Whitaker would be the aggressor in my opinion, Mayweather doesn't have a consistent attack...like McGirt, so Pernell would be unable to catch Mayweather's timing, forcing him to take the initiative. Pernell is the stronger guy, the better inside fighter, Floyd could hold his own in that department but Pernell would get the better of him there. This fight would depend on alot of things, I still say it's 50-50.

Even though this topic doesn't die out, I never get tired of these threads

Pretty much how I feel on it.

Mayweather will have the upper hand in parts of the fight.

I just see Whitaker having more.

I don't think the jab would be as effective and useful a weapon some are making it out to be.
