Nonito Donaire don't have one drop of American blood in him. That dude is a Pinoy who lives in America. Homie wasn't born in America. Difference between Pac and Donaire is that Pac still lives in the Philippines while Donaire was raised and lives in the States but the blood is from the country.

If we are going to wade into cultural issues Arum is correct, there is a big difference when you spend all your formative years in another country not as a visitor but as an inmigrant and stay and reside in that other country. Blood wise, then yeah you are right, but what your saying is that even a child born of immigrant parents in the U.S. is not American because he doesnt have any "American" blood. In many ways you are what you feel and I'm pretty sure that Nonito has been clear about what he feels himself to be and there is no difference between that and what Arum stated in broad terms. Doesnt mean that Nonito cant stablish a connection but its a diffferent. Thats just a fact.

I see what you are saying and where you are coming from but the only reason why Donaire doesn't have the Pinoy people behind him is because Arum didn't promote him to the same market. A couple of good fights on Manny's undercard would have blown Nonito up and gave him a fan base and connection with the Phillippean people. I would think that the Phillippean people would appreciate another fighter from their country because there are not many. Arum is full of it.

see now do people see. when mayweather was with top rank arum said that he was the best even better than muhammad ali. now that he is gone arum says that mayweather is a coward. i know people are going to say to stop nuthugging mayweather and that this thread has nothing to do with him but its a point that needs to be made. the thing about arum is that the idiot makes himself look bad contradicting his ****** old self

stfu, bob...move on, face the fact that nonito is with gbp now. you messed up handling the kids boxing career because of your greediness. putting nonito as your reserve cash cow after manny retires is the biggest mistake that you did..

nonito will shine, with or without you..the kid is full of talent to be the next boxing superstar.

WTF! Manny and Nonito maybe Filipinos or a Filipino Decent but they are both different persons, raise in different environment and overcome different circumstances in life that propelled them to reach their goals. Manny already have the "It" factor that Nonito wants to have?! The rivalry is not personal between the 2 because they are both good friends.

What i regret out of all of this is that they are too far apart in weight classes to actually meet in the ring and age their age doesn't even make it better.

oh well, this is what happens when there's really nothing that interesting that's happening in boxing, speculating on the supposed rivalry between Filipino (one is Filipino-born) fighters. There's no rivalry, there's enough love to go around for a country of 90million people that has nothing except for this two guys. Cmon, before there was Pacquiao the only one that kinda brings pride and joy to the country was Leah Salonga for christ's sake. She also went to the White House. Great! So, boxing writers, the only thing the Filipinos have for DOnaire and Pac is love. GTFO with that rivalry ****!
