On Saturday night in Ekaterinburg, Russia - Pirog had a much tougher than expected time in winning a twelve round unanimous decision over optional challenger Javier Francisco Maciel (18-2, 12KOs). Yeah,I was thinking the same thing.Pirog's team & Pacmans lovechildren need to stop with that Martinez ducking Pirog crap.He isn't seasoned enough to **** with Martinez.I wish I was an advisor though,I'd tell Martinez to train hard & make short work of him in about 4 month's take a stranglehold on the pfp spot then go down to 154 & take a belt from someone then call out the 2 top fighters in boxing once more.
Yeah, you're right. What a ****ing shame. Ahh well. 160 doesn't really have stars so what can you do? He will probably have no choice but to fight Sturm and, as you pointed out, that's not a bad thing.
I heard quite a bit about Pirog prior to the Jacobs bout but, even then, beating Jacobs doesn't mean much. Just don't understand the notion that Martinez is ducking him. Laughable, really.

If Chavez Jr wins, then yes, Sergio can make some good money IF Chavez fights him. If Zbik wins, there really is no money there since HBO didn't even want that fight to begin with. I think if Sergio doesn't try to get the Sturm fight, then Pirog should. That would get him another title (I think Pirog would beat Sturm) and make the Sergio fight more attractive...
In the meantime, it looks like we will be stuck with Manfredo. I am not really looking forward to that fight but HBO looks to be on-board since Manfredo is somewhat known from the Contender series. Sergio has earned a softer touch though and as long as he goes for someone tough afterward, I won't hold it against him...
Arum aint gonna feed Chavez to Martinez, and I am not sure if Pirog beats Sturm?
