Good fighters come from every corner of the world. Cuba comes to mind. Everytime I hear of a Cubian fighter I always see a solid set of skills even early in their pro careers.
In Boxing, Which Nationality is most respected?

It's not like I like to ride the tallest horse around, or like to take the high moral ground... But I don't see other hispanics/latinos as enemies, much less people I should hate or begrudge. Feck that, we come from similar enough backgrounds, whatever the differences in political and cultural history, most of us are the product of Spanish mofos, or Spanish mofos that ****d, pillaged, and plundered their way to dominance on this side of the pond... The hatred between brothers, practically, is ******.that's incorrect as you clearly pointed out the mexicans.
i'd LOVE to hear you analyze the rican style of boxing...something tells me you won't find so many "psychological" flaws.
if anything, YOU are ALSO showing fear by realizing NO ONE was giving your nationality respect so the first thing you do, of course, is talk about another nationality. YOU are the one speaking in this lounge with that "chip on your shoulder" trying to "prove" something about your people that no one gives a fk about. Just accept that most people, that have commented so far, don't respect rican boxing. I personally do.
If you hate when people open their mouths about your island, then why do you open yours by trying to "analyze" the psychological perspective of a mexican boxer.
quit the "politically correct" bullshat.Comment

I already said CLEARLY that I think the USA is #1 in terms of quality fighters.that's incorrect as you clearly pointed out the mexicans.

Puerto Ricans on the whole, are full of self love bro. Anybody can tell you that. There is a difference between saying you love yourself, and actually meaning it. PRs by and large, really LOVE who they are. It cannot be questioned. That being said, this pride and love, has a lot to do with how they approach the SPORT of Boxing. You will not find too many PRs who want to "die in the ring" for applause. This was my point with regard to a lot of Mexican fighters. I question their self esteem and their own sense of importance in this world. It takes a certain mindset to think the way they do and this is what I alluded to in my earlier posts. I theorized that much of this bravado as we see it, is perhaps routed in fear. A fear of rejection from the tribe. It is a mindset that gives way too much importance on the opinions of others and the acceptance of others.
Simply put, my Boricua brothers love life too much, love pssy too much to die in the ring for anybody. Time and place to put it all on the line, and boxing ring with sweet velvet ropes is not that place for everyone. Life and death situation in real life, and we go all out, balls to the walls for ourselves and family.
Self love...self worth... Practice it.Last edited by BorderPatrol; 03-22-2011, 01:37 PM.Comment

Cubans don't mess around...they have these large government funded boxing camps for youths, all around cuba...and they all compete against each other. And of course all the kids in each camp are always sparring each other. I hear their training emphasizes more shadowboxing, something like 'for every 12 rounds, we shadowbox 10' or something like that I heard a guy say once.Comment

Plenty "Boricuas" in National Cemeteries who died in wars and conflicts that had absolutely no effect on them (aside from geopolitical bull**** and spheres of influence the Gov wanted to maintain)...
My own gramps was lost for a week in Korea, with three bullet holes in his leg before being found by some other grunts on patrol. That takes balls, surviving for real, getting your face beat in, in a pointless manner, not so much...Comment

It's like the Chinese Olympic efforts, or the former Soviet Union. You have programs which seek out the best talent, from a very young age and mold them into the very best.Cubans don't mess around...they have these large government funded boxing camps for youths, all around cuba...and they all compete against each other. This is true bro and yet, perhaps it is due to economics and citizenship, but the hatred from the Mexican side is out of this world. PRs get along with EVERYBODY. We are laid-back and humble for the most part. Ask anyone who has gone to PR and they will tell you how hospitable and generous the Puerto Rican people are. Unfortunately, A lot of Mexicans come here with BS perceptions about others including blacks. Everybody is lazy to them and everybody else is a criminal except for Mexicans. It's the crabs in a barrel mindset. Nobody fights for the Gringo's love like a Mexican. I suspect this is the mentality. Kinda like a child fighting for his dad's affection...learning to despise his brothers in the process. Just look at what Margarito did with the plaster wraps. He recently said next time he "will KILL Cotto." How much hatred, and backwards thinking does that take? Mexicans are very much in tune with their love of death as practiced by their ancestors. It's a dark and vicious/hateful culture and it shows all to often in the ring and even in these very threads. It's not like I like to ride the tallest horse around, or like to take the high moral ground... Maybe this is how they bond to one another, I don't know. But you'd be kidding yourself if you think PRs hate Mexicans man. We may respond to their BS here, but overall, we are a happy group who are too busy loving who we are to hate anybody.Last edited by BorderPatrol; 03-22-2011, 01:51 PM.Comment

man you come off as a big time fucken racist on here, I could easily say the same **** about ricans having hatred. You do realize that the majority of mexicans that only really have issues with blacks are the dumb ass gang****ers in LA? and most of this is because of the shit that goes on inside prison. This is true bro and yet, perhaps it is due to economics and citizenship, but the hatred from the Mexican side is out of this world.
