I wouldnt go that far. Griffin was a crafty, difficult fighter to face. and Del Valle wasnt legendary, but a decent fighter in the division.

Calzaghe has also had his share of bad nights, most noticably against Robin Reid and Kabary Salem. although Roy wasnt unbeatable, Ill agree with that.

I'm almost 100% sure that it isn't true.

I know JOnes had a fear of fighting abroad after the Olympics. But, in America, for a cool $5,000,000, I don't see Jones turning it down. However, I don't have enough information. Doesn't sound accurate.

That could be a fair enough point, However, wanting Jones over Calzaghe at that point isn't really a "smart" duck. Considering, many, at the time, would have assumed Jones was the better fighter.

Jones wasnt fighting him though and after Calzaghe had won the title Collins went in to camp for a comeback against a fighter not named Calzaghe.

He rejected the offer because he was making more money fighting the smaller guys in America. Not exactly a duck, truthfully. Not at all.

The offer was made in 2001 and it was a career high purse for Hopkins at that time. Its the same purse Hopkins got when they actually did fight.

Taylor did make decent money in America. He fought decent opponents for the most part in his career. So, wanting more money isn't really a duck. Simply a choice.

Its called pricing yourself out, $4m was a great purse for Taylor.

Before the fight, he was offered a fight with Miranda, with the hopes of fighting Taylor if he won for the Middleweight championship. He won, then got the Middleweight championship match. Not a duck, just a different option. It did end up paying off.

He had 2 chances.

These are simply the options. At the same time, I'm sure we could hear the other side of the argument. We don't know the stipulations in the contracts or anything along those lines.

Seems pretty straight forward to me. All would have made great money and decided against it.

He didnt fight Oscar for 4 years after this. Oscar hadnt even been in the ring with Vargas or done the Mosley rematch at that point. For a career high purse, Hopkins *****ed out.
