Those who avoided Sir Joe The Legend Killer Calzaghe

And you conveniently neglect to mention that Calzaghe doesnt fade and is 100 times better a fighter than Griffin ever was.
Griffin got caught Cold, i give Jones credit for it obviously but that doesnt change a thing about the first fight. Rematches shouldnt be needed to dispatch of fighters like Griffin.
You should watch 24/7 where Roy is on record saying how badly Calzaghe wanted him.
Jones was impressive against his bums, no doubt. So impressive he was actually able to con fans like yourself who believe he was untouchable when of course guys like Lou Del Valle and Montiel Griffin made the stuff you post look nothing short of ridiculous. Calzaghe beats any version of Roy, Roy ducked him for a reason.Comment

Its without question Hopkins did.
Taylor also rejected a huge offer to fight Joe when it would've been a huge fight.
Collins supposedly had an injury.
Roy didnt duck him.Comment

I wouldnt go that far. Griffin was a crafty, difficult fighter to face. and Del Valle wasnt legendary, but a decent fighter in the division. And you conveniently neglect to mention that Calzaghe doesnt fade and is 100 times better a fighter than Griffin ever was.

Calzaghe has also had his share of bad nights, most noticably against Robin Reid and Kabary Salem. although Roy wasnt unbeatable, Ill agree with that.Comment

why would hopkins leave hbo and lock himself up with a 3 fight deal on showtime when an oscar fight was on the horizon? yeah making ten times more fighting delahoya what a duck!
warren and calzaghe made a huge offer to fight taylor in the uk. why would taylor who's the bigger star and higher rated fighter risk going over there where calzaghe has a history of early stoppages? this must have been during calzaghe's "scared to fly" phase.
look how things change when you look at the entire picture instead of just listening to the spin that calzaghe puts out to get more publicity.Last edited by daggum; 03-14-2011, 09:51 PM.Comment

Jones wasnt fighting him though and after Calzaghe had won the title Collins went in to camp for a comeback against a fighter not named Calzaghe.
The offer was made in 2001 and it was a career high purse for Hopkins at that time. Its the same purse Hopkins got when they actually did fight.
Google is your friend.
No doubt buttaking his unbeaten scalp when he was #1 in the division adds to your legacy.
Its called pricing yourself out, $4m was a great purse for Taylor.
He had 2 chances.
Seems pretty straight forward to me. All would have made great money and decided against it.Comment

He didnt fight Oscar for 4 years after this. Oscar hadnt even been in the ring with Vargas or done the Mosley rematch at that point. For a career high purse, Hopkins *****ed out.Comment
