That's why i encourage everyone to contact Money Mayweather on his twitter page to thank him for the career he's had and to encourage him to make his return to the ring.
Normally I wouldn't bother Floyd during his vacation and I'm not going to thank him for being the sport's all time P4P most notorious ducker/coward. BUT I have to give props where it's due... I just hit the jackpot on a 4 digit number I found under the cap of one of the lottery sodas he's pushing nowadays. I think the flavor was Aunt Jemima's Plantation Purple or something like that, either way...
Now I too can make it rain in the club and in no time I'll be owing the IRS in unpaid back taxes.
I love boxing but the difference between me and a lot of the posters in this thread is i'm a realist and i call them how i see them. At this point, given boxings current state, Floyd is bigger than the sport itself.
You're not a realist, you're a fucking nuthugger. If you were a realist, you wouldn't be making nuthugging threads like this. And Floyd is not bigger than the sport itself because it's only because of the sport that people know Floyd.
Larry Merchant said it best after the Bradley/Alexander fight that there's a void in the sport. He broke down that there's a yearning for boxing from the general public (as evidenced by the success of the movie The Fighter) which currently isnt being filled by the athletes at the forefront of the sport today.
Which is funny because up until a year ago everyone was claiming that boxing was "back" better than ever after going through a dark period. So what happened that triggered the public to lose interest in sport once again?
Well it's the same thing that made them claim boxing was "a dying sport" a couple of years ago. When Floyd Mayweather takes a hiatus, people simply lose interest because there are no other athletes of his caliber to fill his shoes.
He's not only the most skilled boxer in the sport of boxing today.. he's also the most entertaining outside of the ring, the most well known internationally, and the best ambassador for the sport.
If he ultimately decides to stay retired, then we should respect all he's given to the sport and salute him for calling it quits while still at the top of his game. However if he decides to return to the sport that already owes him, we shouldnt take for granted the few fights he might have left.

Let's make one thing clear: A lot of people outside of the US don't even know who Mayweather is. He's no Ali, SRL or Tyson, to name a few. He may be good in selling his fights, but most fans only care about the fight inside the ring. His fights don't excite a lot of fans, believe it or not.
