Again with your terrible logic. That's like saying Michael Jackson isnt bigger than The Jackson 5 because it was only because of that group that people came to know him.

The reality is, Floyd isnt definied by this sport and it makes insecure boxing fans like yourself feel nervous. That's why you go out of your way to drag him down as evidenced by your desperate anti-Floyd posts and your signature.
Bad analogy. Michael Jackson WAS the Jackson 5. He was the focal point and center-piece of that group. Without Michael, there is no Jackson 5.

Now, what you're saying about Floyd being bigger than the sport of boxing is like saying, Michael Jackson is bigger than music, or more specifically pop music... Which couldn't be further from the truth.

Which is funny because up until a year ago everyone was claiming that boxing was "back" better than ever after going through a dark period. So what happened that triggered the public to lose interest in sport once again?

Well it's the same thing that made them claim boxing was "a dying sport" a couple of years ago. When Floyd Mayweather takes a hiatus, people simply lose interest because there are no other athletes of his caliber to fill his shoes.

He's not only the most skilled boxer in the sport of boxing today.. he's also the most entertaining outside of the ring, the most well known internationally, and the best ambassador for the sport.

If he ultimately decides to stay retired, then we should respect all he's given to the sport and salute him for calling it quits while still at the top of his game. However if he decides to return to the sport that already owes him, we shouldnt take for granted the few fights he might have left.

That's why i encourage everyone to contact Money Mayweather on his twitter page to thank him for the career he's had and to encourage him to make his return to the ring.

sorry dude, the sport doesn't owe anybody; you contibute what you can to the fight game and take the love, hate, your pride and your prize (which is what you fight for) home. end of story... and I'm a Floyd fan

what you could argue for though, is that these crooked promoters in boxing set up pension plans using some of their and their fighters' earnings for the end of their careers. A duty to help fighters establish investment opportunities should be requisite...So much money is generated off these guys who often times know nothing but fighting...

No athlete is bigger than the sport they represent. FMJ owes everything he has to boxing fans and Oscar De La Hoya. Without them two, he'd be a niche fighter known by hardcore fans with amazing talent.

The sad thing is, FMJ will never achieve the adoration he so desperately wants because he doesn't respect himself, the fans and other participants. All the money in the world can't buy class and respect.

With that being said, can't wait to see him fight again. Its either Cotto, Margarito, Pac, Martinez or bust
