Martinez Belongs at 168

Well you chose the biggest SMW along with Dirrell. He's a similar size to the rest in terms of weight.

Froch is 6'1
Ward and Kessler about 6' and half a inch. So giving 1" 1/2 - 2 inches in height isn't much plus Martinez has a long reach although both are not as big an issue as it would be for most fighters because of Martinez's style and speed.

I have no FN weights for Froch or Kessler and there are no height classes in boxing but take Andrade, he was 185 against Bute in their rematch.

This leads me to believe its typical for SMWs to rehydrate to the low-mid 180s.

I you don't weigh 180+ on fight night, than you shouldn't be a SMW. You should move down to MW. The guy who started this thread has no clue.

He can make 160. He was a 154lber not too long ago. He does not have to fight at 168 and is probably too small for it in my opinion.

I think if the $ money is right I can see Martinez move up to 168. He doesn't have many options in his current weight.

Bute for example regularly comes in on fight night at 182 but even if Sergio did he made weight and them some, he is a smallish MW.

So why he calling out fighters that are smalling WWs?

Martinez definitely IS NOT a 168 LBer! His physique is too big already at 160. He should go down to 154 it will make it easier on himself.

Not sure where some of you guys get your facts from, but Froch is pretty easily the biggest fighter at 168.

Martinez can definitely fight in a super middleweight instead of calling Pac. if he is really that good why not? why calling smaller guys if he really want to become a p4p he should call out bigger guys.

Martinez is a good size (but not great size) Middleweight. Nothing more at this point. He walks around at the weight that Froch and Bute rehydrate to after only one day. Meaning they walk around AT LEAST in the high 180's.

He walks around in the 170's and they get up in the 180's a day after weighing 168 pounds.

Pretty simple logic.
