So we got Zbik, Chavez, vanes, kirkland and lee at.middle, regardless of chavezs future win against zbik he will never fight Sergio, neither will vanes, lee is most likely next and that's one sided, and kirkland won't.be ready till 2012 but those names might not have a big draw.

Martinez should be clearing out his own division, starting with Sturm. Or if he wants a bigger challenge, he could fight Bute. But it's absolutely ridiculous that the World Middleweight champion only wants to fight people from much lower weight classes. Weight classes exist for a reason, and if he really wants to fight Welterweights, especially undersized ones, he should boil down to 147.
Stop making lame excuses for Pacman. Sergio Martinez is not bigger or heavier than Margarito who Pacman chose and fought with glee for a contrived vacant 154 title just a few months ago. Besides, Sergio has said he would be ready to fight Pacman (and by extension Floyd) at 154, even 150. Pacman is the one running. For instance, he ran from Shane Mosley until Floyd demonstrated how to own Mosley, now Pacman has chosen an essentially 40-year-old Mosley to earn a pay-day and further "shine" with. The gullible will still see another shine there for Pacman, unfortunately.

The world is gradually realizing what a fraud the matchmaking for Pacman has been the last six fights or so anyway, and that goes back the last three years or thereabout. Yet the Floyd-hating (rightly or wrongly) majority in the BWAA voted the same Pacman as the FOTD. WTF!

I don't have any hate, I just believe Sergio Martinez has now legitimately earned the #1P4P slot - for now - and The RING should duely acknowledge him as such. Fair is fair.

        2010-2011 P4P:

        1. Martinez: #1 MW Pavlik, #1 MW PWILL, Dzinziruk
        2. Mayweather: #1 WW Mosley
        3. Pac: #5 WW Clottey, Margarito

If Mayweather doesn't fight by May 2011 then he can be moved down. In the meantime he's done more by fighting one less fight than Pac..

Like I said this IS Martinez' time!

Martinez is a career JMW, a weight class both Mayweather and Pac fought at. He wants the big money fights. Just like how Pac hasn't got in the ring with Berto at WW or Bradley at JWW/WW let alone JMM at LW/JWW. He's "PICKING" the popular fighters or the in house made to look good fighters that according to Bob Arum will "sell".

FYI: Since 2010, all of Pac's opponents are officially on a 2 year non winning streak including Mosley.

A career 5'10 JMW Martinez is not doing anything Pac is not doing who is not doing anything Mayweather is not doing and so on. Sergio wants the big money and Mayweather/Pac bring that.

However I will agree he IS big for the WW's but he's not doing anything different by wanting to fight the "popular"/big money fights which just so happens to be at WW.

The question is, is anyone at SMW worth the risk or more importantly the money for Martinez? Will he hand select someone to fight at SMW like Pac did for JMW?

Pavlik was nowhere near as good as Cotto P4P, especially after the long lay-off and all the injuries. And he is the only Middleweight Martinez has ever fought. And his win over Pavlik was nowhere near as decisive as Pac's over Cotto.

So if Vitali calls out Pac next, do you seriously think that would mean Vitali wants to fight the best?

The P4P nonsense has got completely out of hand. P4P is a myth, nothing to do with reality. Weight classes exist for a reason.

Fighting the best means fighting the best at your own weight class or higher, not beating up much smaller men - that's what bullies do, not what great fighters do.

P4P is a fantasy game it's not a weight class. Great champions want to fight fighters there own size or bigger, not much smaller men.

And you know damn well that both Pac's and Floyd's fights at 154 were bullshit cherry picking fights and that neither have the frame to be real Jr Middleweights, still less Middleweights, especially Pac - whereas Martinez has the frame to be a genuine Middleweight now. Floyd started at Super Featherweight, Pac at Flyweight, Martinez at Welterweight. Martinez fights at 170lb on fight night, Floyd and Pac fight at less than 150lb.

Plus great fighters don't call out fighters from much lower weight classes, only playground bullies do that.
