I am big PBF fan myself. But just because you can do something doesn't make it right. IMO I feel like many even those who don't like PBF that he should fight more often.

Good interview. I don't agree with everything he says. There's no better pure boxer as far as mixing punches, feinting, defense, angles, etc than Floyd. For him to name Judah as the standard bearer for what boxing is, is misguided. Also, both Taylor and Chavez were flawed boxers with more heart than skill. Don't get me wrong, they were both helluva fighters, but they where easily dictated in the ring. Both were subceptable (sp) to falling into traps and ditching their gameplan in order to mix it up. That alone allows Floyd to at least compete in a fight with both of them. Pac on the other hand would probably get thrashed by Chavez simply due to Chavez's penchant for body/kidney shots. I think Pac's "hit me once, I'll hit you twice" style would allow him to beat Taylor, but it wouldn't be easy.

As far as a fight with Sweet Pea, I think Floyd beats him pretty easily because both are defensive wizards, but Floyd doesn't waste a lot of punches. Sweet Pea had amazing feet, hips, and waist movement. His defense wasn't predicated on body placement like Floyd's, so I think his defense wouldn't "show up" in a fight where the guy is looking to throw one shot at a time. A Sweet Pea fight with Pac could go either way. Whitaker sacrificed a lot of rounds in the middle of fights to concentrate solely on defense. I envision he'd put on a show ala like he did against Oscar and Chavez were boxing purists would notice his skill set superiority over Pac, but he'd probably lose it on the scorecard due to his lulls in offense and the fact he always find a way to complain in lieu of an incidental push down or him turning his back and getting hit in the back of the head.

Either way, I think Pac and May could do very well in any era. Who would win is merely speculation.

No offense to Pernell but none of that **** made any sense.

He talks better with his gloves. Zab Judah what?

Hopkins is still fighting at 46, facing opponents half his age damn near. Sweet Pea, you aint too old to get an ass whooping. IMO Sweet Pea had a slick style but he didnt have the whole package like floyd. Plus when floyd was younger at the lighter weights he was a MONSTER!!! he would destroy Sweet pea with speed and accuracy. Now that he is a WW he is a technician which is why he is more dangerous then ever. Now when he throws his shots, he picks them wisely to hurt u..

no lie, i agree with pernell that this generation of fighters is NOTHING compared to previous generations... pernell would pick apart manny. and he would completely school floyd...

my favorite era was hagler/hearns/duran/leonard. no comparison.
they made plenty of money for the time, and they STILL fought their asses off.

floyd & pac got too spoiled... they make big money regardless of the fight.

im a boxing fan, but i respect MMA. i work closely with a few UFC fighters, the one thing i notice is the difference in salaries.... when berto can make $900k+ on a fight compared to a BIG name UFC fighter who makes $200k+ a fight, theres a MAJOR problem. dana white pays his fighters crumbs... mma fighters make SICK bonuses and sponsorship money though. they are walking billboard ads.

i think when boxing/fans MAKES these fighters FIGHT for their money, things will get better for the sport. too many overhyped/overpaid "prospects".

all these contenders speaking on money instead of pleasing fans REALLY disturbs me.... makes me respect the gattis, wards, & other FIGHTERS.

I really don't understand where your going with this, Whitaker was probably a more complete package than Floyd. He's regarded by many as the greatest defensive boxer of all time, all this while having a better workrate than Floyd, better inside game/ body attack, better jab. That's not to say Floyd couldn't beat him either.

My advice to you is to actually watch his fights, anyone who has a high appreciation for Floyd's skill set should also have one for Whitaker's.

As much as I love Pea, I totally disagree with this. Now, I have always picked him to beat Floyd in fantasy fights, but there is no way do I see him completely schooling a pure boxer like Mayweather.
