Yup, you sure are right. It was the dead division at that point--everyone was below or up. I never thought of Mayweather-Oscar as the fight for the true title but the winner was probably the best fighter in the division. Who else was around at that time, Cory Spinks? Kassim Ouma? Karmazin? I don't even remember.

Cory Spinks was considered #1. Karmazin was considered #2.

Oscar was #3.

The ring for Mayweather-De La Hoya was also made of paper. Plus, it was recently reported that Corey Spinks is actually paper. He doesn't exist. True definition of a paper champion.

Yep - spot on. Not that I was singing the praises of Cory Spinks at the time or anything lol. But he was the guy in the division.

Spinks was but he was going up to fight Taylor which was a couple weeks later. I had to look it up

Floyd is a polarizing figure, people either love (the people that don't really care what he does outside the ring for the most part) or hate him (the people that hate everything about him and anything about him gets on their last nerve). Can't really expect good conversation with that sort of gulf between the parties involved.

Its too obvious that its hate motivated. I have fighters that I dont particularly like but I cant deny results.

Floyd doesn't have a remarkable resume but he has a lotta solid good wins and titles in different weightclasses...

You could criticize a lotta fighters resumes...people do it on here all the time...

People are knocking the fighters for where they are today. At the time when he was beaten em they were considered top guys.

Baldomir won the WW belt fair and square. Why is Canelo praised for his KO over the same guy 4yrs later. If he was garbage when Floyd blew him out then shouldnt his stock be rock bottom 4,5 years later.

I try to avoid thinking about that fight, it was a decent attempt by Spinks though no one gave him a shot in hell of being competitive in that fight and he made Taylor look worse than B-Hop did.

I had him up by a couple rounds going to or in the middle of the seventh then I knocked out. Yeah, there were no winners that night. Even the fans lost.

Every champ in history has wins under their belt against journeymen. It doesnt take away from a career of beating top guys is all Im saying. Honestly the tune people were singing about Baldy was way different after he punished Judah. The only fighters that get this criticism are Floyd and Pac. Its a lot lesser fighters who get big ups here with many more holes in their resume.
