his best fight was with arturo gatti. then he only got famous when he fought dela hoya but we all know that fight was a stinker. that's about it. he just got all this buzz cuz of his negative publicity.

That's why I lol'd when some poster in another thread said he was a HOFer. I won't go as far to say he was trash, but he certainly nothing more than a gatekeeper or journeyman at best.

You do know what the boxing Hall of Fame is about right~?
LOL! you kidding right? Marquez, Mosley and Oscar were the only ones who would go to the hall of fame..Floyd didnt fight them at their best. Marquez was a lightweight, Mosley was way past his prime, inactive and old, Oscar was past his prime.

Hernandez, Gatti, JLC and Corrales in a hall of fame? typical *****s.

so No..there was nothing in his fights that made him an ATG. but he is a hall of fame. he was supposed to have an ATG skills but not proven. Would shoulda coulda wouldnt work in ATG status. Floyd is a very good boxer with above average resume..FACTS

Pacquiao wasn't highly regarded as an ATG until he beat Oscar De La Hoya at 147. Floyd beat him 2 years earlier in DLH's optimal weight class. Why can't Floyd be regarded an ATG for beating the same guy? Does Floyd Mayweather Jr need to do special CIA missions to get a spot in the top ATG's because? Why? He beat almost the same guys that Pacquiao beat that made Pacquiao this top ATG/GOAT, barring a couple of guys like Morales and Barrera. Cause we all know Margarito isn't even a HOFer, Cotto I think is barely gonna make it to the HOF since the HOF is such a joke that almost any fighter can get in. Floyd's wins against Corrales Castillo, Chavez, and Hernandez at 130-135 compensate for not fighting Cotto and Margarito at WW. IMO beating a prime Castillo twice is better than beating Margarito.

The couple of guys, Morales and Barrera, are pretty great guys.

Although, you have to consider where Morales was at the time.

Barrera didn't prepare ideally, but you can't use that against Pacquiao. That's a better win than any Floyd has, in the manner it was achieved.

Barrera is still Pacquiao's best win all 'round. Same way that Corrales is still Floyd's. Barrera >>> Corrales.

Both Floyd and Pac have good stuff on their respective records before and after those wins.

I agree that Floyd's body of work is ATG-worthy, though, Kevvy.

Floyd was considered an atg because he's an american, if he's from the other country he will be in the same level with calzaghe or chris john or lower because of his boring style in the ring.

Mayweather has N'dou, Corley, and Mitchell? Does not sound Sugar Ray Ali Pacquiao Leonard-like.
Floyd's name isn't worthy to be mentioned with those 4 atg.
