As for the Cubans being better than the Americans, this was ALWAYS a well known fact amongst boxing people-of whom you likely are not one.

I think Kid Gavilan was a Cuban. Also the famous Luis Rodriguez, both far, far more famous than Casamayor, and both of whom you probably never heard of. And if I want to look around I could probably find many more.

If I am in error, I apologise.
I'm talking of amateur boxing, as the Cubans had a special, selective, patented system. They used to walk away with most of the honours in international championships, on a REGULAR basis. It was only occasionally that the USA was lucky enough to have more than one or two good, talented boxers, winning titles on the same team.

you cant compare the ams with the pros.
WK didn't "jump in " but he was more or less "promoted" from the standard heavyweight to the super heavyweight class, when his brother was disallowed from competing.

I think Arum is banking on Solis fighting like the typical Cuban amateurs, hitting but not getting hit in return. Remember, Vitali is not the fastest guy in the world and if Solis can jump in, get a shot or two off and then move, he might make it difficult for Vitali. But with that said, Vitali only throws very hard accurate punches so if he lets his hands go, he will catch you and when he does, it will then be very difficult to bounce around after a few rounds. I think Vitali will win but considering Solis' style, I think it will be another boring fight...

Ruslan Chagaev beat Felix Savon twice.

Chagaev was completely dominated and KO'd by Wlad.

Wlad got a torn left bicep in the 1st round and he still destroyed Chagaev.

          Vitali will demolish Solis.

I don't find Vitali "boring" hardly ever. Vitali comes to fight, baby. Only his opponents, when they don't come to fight, like Kevin Johnson, are boring.

Vitali wasn't boring in his last fight: he pummelled Briggs to a pulp and put him in intensive care.

I see this one going a lot like Kirk Johnson - Vitali. Vitali wants to step it up and get the KO, because the last fight hurt his % (though it really should have been stopped after round 7).

Vitali over Solis the Obese, KO 7.

This guy Solis is going to fight the same way regardless of his weight. ALOT has been made about his weight but with the type of skills & boxing know how he's got the weight won't be as much of a factor as people think. I HAVE A feeling this dude is going to come in lighter than Vitali anywhere from 240-250 lbs & probably be the lightest weight of his career. With all the hype about his weight i think this will be the first fighter that Vitali will have faced that will take the weight issue seriously.

There's been reports Solis is in the mid 240's now. I really hope he comes in shape so there'll be no excuses when Vitali schools him. They always say beforehand that Klitschko will be beat but this is the first time some are really giving this amateur sensation a shot as Vitali is pushing 40. All depends whether Solis can block Vk's punches with his high guard defense & keep coming forward. If he can do this...then we have a fight on our hands.

The only way to beat Vitali besides injuries is to defend yourself.. which Kevin Johnson & Byrd did but at the same time unleash offense. All reports indicate is that this dude will defend & at the same time offend. as no ONE has really been able to do both against Vitali & therefor get a legitimate win over him... i can't wait to see this one as this dude is the lesser name as opposed to David HAYE but has more all around skills than him.

I agree with most of what you say except the Kirk Johnson part. This dude has skills & it won't be that easy even if Solis comes into the fight as a beached whale. That Briggs travesty of a non stoppage put Vitali's KO ratio below 90% for the first time in his career.. because he's allowed 2 of the last 3 fighters to last the entire fight.. he now has to KO about 7 or 8 FIGHTERS IN A row to get back to 90%

7 KOS' in a row gets him to exactly 90%. I don't think he's got 7 fights in him another 3 or 4 tops.

You're hilarious. Do you post these ignorant diatribes just to wind people up?

Rodriguez was a very good fighter in his time but was a product of pre-Castro Cuba. Gavilan was even earlier, as were Cuban ATGs such as Kid Chocolate. Napoles was also a product of the pre-Castro era.

Most of the products of the post-Castro Cuban amateur system who have turned pro have done very badly as pros. Of those, Casamayor was easily the most successful.
