I think when most fans of both fighters talk about this fight, it's VERY black and white in their assessments.
Mayweather fans - "He'll counter Pacquiao to death. He will not get hit and will lower Pac's output"
Pacquiao fans - "Pacquiao is going to throw too many punches and his angles will break Mayweather down"
To me, it's just not that simple with these 2. Floyd has been knighted by some to be a "Perfect" fighter in the sense of his skills. While Pacquiao knowingly isn't a perfect fighter, he's something probably a little more dangerous than being perfect...unpredictable. Up until now, Floyd has been used to fighting, like Berstein said, conventional fighters / boxers who don't pose a style that Floyd nor most fighters have never seen whether it be a counter puncher, a brawler, boxer puncher, etc. Though Pacquiao's known as a speed fighter, he doesn't throw punches, move on his feet, pose his aggression, or have combination style like any other fighter in Boxing today, simply because in reality...he has no style.
Floyd Mayweather in my eyes is the most gifted boxer I've personally seen in my life as far as me understanding the sport and witnessing a fighter in his prime do his thing. But as far as I can see, and obviously people are always going to throw the blood testing in the mix as to why this fight hasn't happened, I truly don't believe Floyd is 100% confident. I believe without a shadow of a doubt that if he knew without question he could beat Pacquiao, the fight would've happened already. Plus, if Floyd's not mentally 100% be it his legal issues or what have you, fighting Pacquiao is probably not the smartest thing. Floyd, after all, is human.Comment

I dont think its the number of punches that will be the deciding factor. I think its the style. Floyd is incredible at neutralizing orthodox fighters who have a more traditional style. Pac isnt that. He's not your typical moving fwd aggressive fighter like Gatti or Hatton. Pac will swarm from all sides and he will not gas out. He can walk through Floyds counters and he'll land more than any of Floyds past opponents. Also, the fact that he's a southpaw will be key. Floyd knows all this, hence the vacation.Comment

God, these boxing "experts" make me laugh. Do people really think Pacquiao would throw a thousand or more punches against Mayweather? If so that's pretty pathetic. Just goes to show the casual fans are idiotic.Comment

I mean really, can anybody imagine Pacquiao throwing 1000 punches and having success or not being countered to death?
This isn't Margarito or Diaz we're talking about, we're gonna see a different Pacquiao in there weather is works or not (it won't). Not saying Floyd is unbeatable but on paper this fight favors Floyd completely.Comment

Not really. Freddie Roach thought the high offense assault on Clottey was a good barometer for handling Floyd's shell (that is what he would use on Pac, since the shoulder roll is no good on southpaws). Remember how pleased he was after fight and was like, "We'll fight Mayweather anytime.", like they're ready for approaching the D.Comment
