I really wish people would explain why this even ***ing matters when both fighters agree to the weight and can make the weight.

It's not Canelo does not deserve this shot, it's that he is fighting Hatton.

Well theres a lot of factors to take in from Cotto's win.

            His rival Kelson Pinto:

            1. Had beaten Cotto in the amateurs.
            2. Had great ko percentage, Even better than Cotto's I might recall.
            3. Had a three inch advantage on Cotto.
            4. I think he was also more experienced at the time.

            Alvarez rival Mathew Hatton

            1. Ricky Hattons brother
            2. More experienced than Alvarez
            3. Battled Ndou to a draw which Alvarez already easily beat.
            4. Rciky Hatton's brother.

And once he wins the belt those days will be over, who cares it's just a title. it's not like he's fighting for the ring title you know the belt that actually matters.

I have no prob with catch weight fights as long as they aren't for a title. If you want to fight for a division's title then fight at the limit. If not then go fight for that joke of a belt called "The WBC Diamond Belt"

it was against a guy who beat him handily in the amateurs, was undefeated, taller and just as strong if not stronger and cotto blew him away. also cotto defended his belt against the best available competition at that time. mayweather moved up and hatton did as well not much longer (even though he went back down after)

u should count the current and former champions on cotto's resume and also the two times he was denied the IBF belt when trying to unify with margarito and clottey
