I see fans blasting canelo for winning a vacant title against a supposed
bum,Yet cotto won his first major title like that.

I'm not saying that Kelson Pinto is anything, but the dude deserved the title shot at the time. Both guys did.

Haha, I was thinking about this the other day. Cotto does love those vacant belts.

IMO theres no difference cuz its for a vacnt belt, but I do think it wa against better competition at the time, I was looking at Hattons record today and A LOT of his opponents have negative win records, or a lot of losses ( not that losses are career ending but man)

Let's not forget that this title is at a catchweight too. I really wish dudes would stop doing this crap. SMH

Cotto never fought a former undisputed welterweight champion before he got a title shot. I know that doesn't mean much since it was Baldomir but still the overwhelming majority of contenders get moved into position for a title shot in almost the exact same way Alverez is.

yeah bro,Thats the way sum fighters win there belt.Cotto won the vacant
belt and defended it against good comp.Lets hope canelo goes that exact
                  route,No need to rush him.

Who cares if titles are won through vacancy or not?

If he would be fighting a decent and deserving 154lber for it there would and should be no issue.
