  • So Martinez is the fighter that should be moved down huh??

So Martinez had to claw & sc**** his way unto the top 3 in the mythical pfp list right??Now people want to make room for Donaire(who clearly deserves it).So instead of moving the inactive Floyd down & moving Pacman down,ya'll believe that it should be Martinez that gets the shaft yet again to continue to accommodate Floyd & Manny?

Floyd isn't fighting anyone any time soon & if he were,it wouldn't be anyone worthy of arguably the # 1 or 2 pfp fighter.Compare Martinez's last 3 fights,or 2 & who he's fighting next & tell me honestly if Manny's last 3,or 2 of Clottey,Margarito & now Mosley are better than Martinez's 3 of Pavlik(rightfull middleweight champion, the Punisher,3 weight classes shook & now Dzinziruk undefeated & highly skilled unbeaten fighter).

It doesn't make sense to me.Martinez shouldn't be moved down to accommodate Donaire,Floyd & Pacman should be moved.

Meh...Is a P4P list....If somebody wants to put Lucian Bute #1 P4P so be it. It's all based on opinion based anyways. Is a mythical ranking....

Pacquiao hasn't faught anyone with a pulse for quite a while, but he hasn't given anyone a good enough reason to take him off the number one spot. He's still dominant and beating big names, even if they're not actual threats. Mayweather hasn't been inactive long enough to be removed yet, but probably will be soon.

Anyone asking Donaire to be placed above Martinez needs to think outside of their little box. Donaire hasn't accomplished half as much as Martinez.

Mayweather and Pacquiao haven't lost for a long time, all the wins in that period are likely to be counted by Ring Magazine. Due to inactivity they might remove Mayweather, if they have some rules. But there is no way you can have Pacquiao moved down unless he loses or retires. P4P ranking is not "Fighter of the Year" contest, wins over alcoholic Pavlik and Williams can't overshadow Pacman's and Mayweather's long streak of wins over solid opponents.

In my P4P list, I have Martinez over Donaire. But, if somebody has Donaire over Martinez. Then that's fine too.

It really doesn't matter at all.

But, can you elaborate more on the bold please. How hasn't Donaire accomplished half as much as Martinez?

whether you like it or not, both pac and floyd are staying at #1 and #2 respectively, and they would stay that way until may 2011. That's because we don't know how Pac would perform against mosley and after may 2011, floyd would have not fought for over a year.

your problem is you compare pac, floyd and martinez with their last three fights, and then base that on their P4P ranking, when you should be comparing their entire resume as a whole.

the way i see it, a number of people still rank martinez above donaire, while others rank it the other way around.

since its not possible for either of them to challenge each other, because of the impossible size difference, its mostly based on objective opinion who people perceive to be greater.

and since this is purely objective, why should you allow yourself to be upset just because some people don't see things the way you do?

Of course you can, you can lose your P4P status without losing in the ring or retiring. It has happened by the ring before. If there are other fighters out performing you then they be ranked ahead of you.

The fact that people think you can only lose your P4P spot in the ring or retiring is a myth.

Martinez should hold his spot, honestly i'm not of the opinion that Donaire should be moved up that high. I consider it to just be mob mentality after such a good performance, but time and tough fights will tell where he will settle on the p4p rankings, not a flash KO.

This all reads really well, but I assure U that I am 1 of the few on here that really doesn't pay much mind to pfp.Matter of fact I made a tread about how worthless it really is.But the thing is that the majority of boxing fans hold pfp ranking above titles, division ranks & above most everything else.

But U don't use an entire resume to compare pfp 1 bit.3 fights are entirely enough fights to base the highest ranked. Why should 1 fighter still hold claim to the #1 spot when all he's doing is beaten big named, shot old fighters??

I just can't see Martinez losing his spot, he did beat the #3 guy in the world at the time. I could see Donaire passing JMM, not Martinez.
