Manny Steward is doing a great job selling this fight by trying to convince everyone that Mayorga will be a challenge.

I remember at the press conference in NY, Mayorga's trainer was at the podium talking about how Mayorga is a threat to be reckoned with yadda yadda. When Manny Steward was speaking he was saying the exact same thing. He didn't say one good thing about Cotto, all he was doing was trying to convince people that Mayorga is still dangerous.

But hey, I think it will be an entertaining fight with some big names in the sport. I'm almost 100% certain that I'll be buying this fight.

Cotto is a 10 to 1 favorite at the offshore books for good reason.

That said, Mayorga will be in better shape than normal. He's being trained by Al Bonanni who also works with Cloud. If even a fraction of that stamina rubs off on Ricardo then he may have a puncher's chance for 6 rounds instead of four.

Mayorga could overtrain for this fight. I think he needs to work on his defense although it would be awesome if he let Cotto hit him on the chin like he let Forrest (R.I.P.) and Tito.

mayorga's awkward style and size will give him the advantage early... cotto gotta work the body and focus on defense and boxing. cotto needs to come on late and KO mayorga, but it remains to be seen if cotto can gain new stamina or atleast learn to pace himself.

I agree. Not to mention that were talking about a fighter who has basically had psych troubles fighting a fighter who can take a weak psych.

If Cotto lands that infamous seeker jab the nicaraguan is the one who's going to find himself with his back on the canvas and his legs in the air like the b*tch that he is..

The likely scenario- Cotto's going to box his ears off, bodyshot KO then hand him his retirement funds. Simpe as that.

Even though I view Mayorga as a joke opponent for Cotto, I know somewhere down the line Cotto is gonna have to sink or swim. And that means that he'll have to beat Margarito in a rematch (which is still kind of iffy), fight Pac in a rematch and get more years taken off his career, or take a beating from Sergio. He's gonna have to step up sooner or later because Arum can't sell Cotto to the casual fan like he can Pacquiao.

The only way Cotto generates better interest as far as the general public goes is to fight on HBO and they are already putting their foot down with this overrated fighter to step up. I predict that Dawson and Cotto will be a pair of overrated fighters trained by Steward to have their careers revived to crash and burn just like Taylor's did.

I just want to see if Cotto uses the right hand more and what he can do with it.
