Trainer Emanuel Steward is expecting the best Ricardo Mayorga (29-7, 23KOs) on March 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayorga will challenge Steward's boxer, Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28KOs), for the WBA junior middleweight title. Mayorga has a reputation for not taking his training camps seriously and often struggles to make weight. This time Mayorga is training very hard. Mayorga has not left the gym since the training camp for December's fight with Michael Walker.

I know Mayorga was younger but it did take Tito 8 rounds to KO him and he went 12 rounds with Mosley. He is definitely a tough fighter and he his punch too is capable of hurting almost anybody. Should be interesting fight but I think Cotto will prevail.

mayorga is completely finished, its the only reason cotto's taking the fight - it's a nice easy win so he can get back in the groove before fighting a serious challenger....

mayorga's entertaining... sure... but he's got absolutely no chance....

past performances count for nothing, when you're coming off a 2year layoff and your hardly health conscious.... added to that the come-back fight you had was at a higher weight against a bum....

nice tune-up for cotto before he gets to give margarito the whooping he deserves....

sure cotto's about a 1/4 of the fighter he once was... still too much for mayorga at this point whose about 1/10 of the fighter that beat vernon forrest.

Remains to be seen. I think Mayorga is still a threat. Certainly not the easiest fight in the world for any fighter.
