The film doesn't do a lot of these old guys justice. Besides that power and strength is more of a product of sound biomechanics than a gaudy looking body. Most boxers have lean bodies and while they're usually ripped, their not overly muscled yet they can still crack ribs and break forearms no matter what weight they're at.

What a war between Carmen and Ray!!. Can you imagine the fighters of today like Berto or Dirrell who are always looking to complain to the ref if they were thrust in that era?

    They'd be lunch.
I literally laughed when I imagined Basilio and Berto fighting. oh boy....Berto would probably be arguing that he wasnt knocked down as hes lying on the ground busted open and bloody.

watching Robinson-Basilio in HD does their physique much more justice. espeically Basilio. a solid, defined back and powerfully built legs. never would have gathered that from the crappier footage of him.

anyways, respond to the real point of my original post, stop getting hung up on something I said in passing.

why are you guys comparing the worst/unproven of our time to past all time greats?

        seems kinda wrong no?

how about you compare past greats with current/modern greats.

I mean i can flip the script & say what would our greats do to the yesteryear's version of berto & cintron?

Its just funny to imagine the scenario, that all. were not saying Berto is the best WW around today, or the toughest.

stop nitpicking and talk about the real subject I touched on.

Procrastination at its finest and for the record when Pea had his coke problems he had already considerably slow by then and was losing fights and looking bad at the point, point void.

No Sir. Not hardly, just comparing with what we have out there right NOW. No one has even mentioned SRR.

I like Dempsey's chances because he was a giant-killing specialist. That's what he did. Wlad puts up a hell of a fight, but the class disparity is too big. And Wlad has never been in there with somebody who fights with the brutal ferocity of Dempsey. The pace that Jack would set would be too much, I think.

Agreed. Could you imagine that fight with no Dempsey rule? My goodness the slaughter.
