I know I read that, "Roy had no skills" and almost fell off my seat. He may have been known to fight against bums of the month club but he did have to beat champions at one time or another and that takes skill not just speed and athleticism. He could hit you with 5 right hooks and you thought he hit you with only 1 it was so fast. He was very well at a bit of everything in the ring. Was he in my opinion great at one thing in particular I would have to say no, unless you count show boating and flaunting an opponent a skill. He was a very good champion in his time, he was very well defined in the ring and he knew the game inside and out. He will go down as a top 25 all time great if he's not considered one already.

A sure sign of his brain damage being cured would be him quitting fighting. I fear for him.

He's broke, made a bunch of terrible investments and lost it all.

This is the one reason I hate boxing, you have to see the fighters you loved watching suffer after wards, and at that point no one cares about them anymore. This sport does not forgive.

I thought i was seeing things when someone wrote that Roy had no skills. LMFAO. The only person who has natural boxing ability on par with Roy is Floyd. I remember reading a while ago that he made no money for the fight with Bhop, so this leads me to believe that he has been fighting for money for a while. The saddest thing of all is the fact that Roy never wanted to see "officially" see the Gman until he retired out of fear of suffering the same fate. Now he has

This is soley on his shoulders
Well I get your point. It is possible that Roy has been hiding his condition, but is it likely? Wouldn't he at least tell his personal doctor and/or his team and trainer?

So maybe the current pre-fight tests can not detect this kind of injury and then maybe it's time the commisions included a proper balance test or something like that.

If so then it just follows the known path of too many of our hero boxers.

Jones tested positive for a steroid. He said it was from Ripped Fuel but that's irrelevant.

The thing is, it may not even be brain damage. He may have damaged receptors in his feet from years of running or a damaged inner ear.

I have permanent balance problems from falling 45 feet to the pavement over 16 years ago. If I close my eyes, I fall backwards. In fact I need light to stay vertical as my sight now plays a more important role in my balance. It took me a lot of years to get used to it and I can even stay standing in almost complete darkness as my body has adjusted to it.

'sup Dean? Glad you're not retired.

I'm sure your condition would hinder you from participating in a championship fight wouldnt it?

He might even have been hiding it from his trainer sometimes. Fighters will go to any length to keep doing what they love, no matter the pain or the consequences.
