If Clottey won against Pac, there would be a rematch, and the financial gain of Clottey would far exceed the 2 to 3 million that you speak of because then he would have every right to ask a 50/50 split for the rematch. So if you were Clottey, which one would you take.

sorry my friend but i dont think you know the fight game too well. what is merchant an expert at? your english is not bad. but your boxing knowledge is suspect. you can hate floyd or pac but give them the props for elevating the fight game.actualy,Mayweather's ko rate is too low after he raised to super lightweight,he always duck good fighters, his boxing skill is not as good as he said,i think his skill is muck more worse than donaire and pacquiao.
Merchant is an HBO expert,HBO is now argueing with arum,so he is helping mayweather,in fact, mayweather is not a good fighter above super lightweight,he is a good fighter in lightweight and low class.
i am a chinese and not good at english.Comment

arum gave clottey (on paper) a 10/90 cut of the fight. and there is no sure bet he would win the decision and if he won, there is no sure bet he would get a re-match. you question the numbers i throw out. but you say nothing of the god awful showing clottey put on that night. you cant say why he didnt fight back. and i of course dont know how much he was paid to take a dive. but it sure looked to me and a lot of other people that clottey took a dive. being from detroit has one huge advantage, you get to talk to a lot of old boxing pros. and they tell a lot of tales of fighters that took a dive because, money in the hand is far better than perhaps money. perhaps clottey might have got the w vs pac and perhaps he could have got a 15% cut insted of a 10% cut and there is no way in hell he would have got a 50/50 purse split with pac if he won. perhaps he could have got another fight for with another fighter for more money. but nothing beats sure money. after taking that dive you know your family is far well off. nothing beats sure money.Comment

also do you really think bob would be in the mood to help elevate clotteys career after he beat bobs golden goose? if your not named delahoya or mayweather bob can put an end to your career. you dance as bob says or you dont dance at all. sure money beats perhaps money.Comment

If Clottey beats Pac, Arum would be forced to give Clottey what he wants because he would need to get his golden goose back on track. He might not elevate Clottey's career, but he would certainly yield to his demand on a rematch just to get Pac's career on track.also do you really think bob would be in the mood to help elevate clotteys career after he beat bobs golden goose? if your not named delahoya or mayweather bob can put an end to your career. you dance as bob says or you dont dance at all. sure money beats perhaps money.
The reason why Clottey was clamming up was because Pac never stopped punching. Clottey style was always like that. Cotto and Marg at one point would pause when Clottey fires back, which allows Clottey to sprung up some combination. Its different with Pac, because everytime he would throw that upper cut (which connected), Pac would instantly give 3 to 4 punch combination.
You can also say that Clottey didnt want to be on the receiving end of a Pac KO reel in ESPN, the fate that Pac's last 3 opponents had in common.Last edited by mikemurni; 02-08-2011, 09:25 PM.Comment

you know what i actually like like this post. there is nothing wrong with cheering your fighter on. at least this dude is honest. i dont see you as ignorant though.Comment

Yes because Pac fought Cotto who defeated Mosley. You keep quoting Roach but he also said that "May was ducking Pac", do you believe that one too..Roach makes tons of statement all of which contradicts the other, and yet here you are nitpicking that you think would support your case.well spoken, i 2nd this, thats exactly what freddy roach was doin with the pacman, waitn for the other fighters to get weaker and age...lol ...now all of a sudden pacman's the best...where was freddy roach and pacman after mosley dusted off margarito?, ill tell you, they wanted no part of the sugar man at that time, ,lol... but the *******s forget that one.Comment

well mike im sorry but we are going to have to agree to disagree. clottey hit pac at will and even though pac threw at lot of punches and clottey did his best impression of a heavy bag, he was never hurt, never in trouble. in fact pac looked the worst of the two. i enjoyed the back and forth peace!!!!!!If Clottey beats Pac, Arum would be forced to give Clottey what he wants because he would need to get his golden goose back on track. Clottey was never hurt because he was clamming throughout the whole fight. It was Pac's event, so it was his responsibility to force Clottey to fight. Pac didnt need to be on the receiving end of those uppercuts but he had to do it anyway just to force Clottey to open up and exchange.well mike im sorry but we are going to have to agree to disagree. clottey hit pac at will and even though pac threw at lot of punches and clottey did his best impression of a heavy bag, he was never hurt, never in trouble. in fact pac looked the worst of the two. i enjoyed the back and forth peace!!!!!!
Pac looked worst against Cotto, and yet he dominated Cotto in that fight. The same thing goes to Marg. There is nothing su****ious about that..Comment

not if Arum determines his fate by owning his ass with a contract. therefore he will do whatever arum says. i think he def took a dive. manny wasnt that overwhelming to make him clam up. manny threw all of those punches B/C clottey didnt throw by instruction. not the other way around. he took a dive for sureComment
