I have to go with Holmes as Tyson's best win. Spinks was like a lamb walking into the slaughter the night he faced Tyson. He didn't even try to put up a fight. At least Larry went out on his shield, like a true champion. Spinks might've been the better man in that stage of Holmes's career, but Larry actually tried to put up a fight.Comment

I'm sick of hearing about these excuses about Mike Tyson that when he lost he was past his prime or his prime didn't last long, well the fact of the matter is his career ******. If only Tyson did this or if only Tyson did that, well his didn't and he was an average boxer who lost to bums! He did not have the dedication and the mentality of a great boxer. His best win was against Michael Spinks who imo was never was a legitimate heavyweight champion (but he was one of the best light-heavy).
For the record I would say he was prime from Berbick until he went to prisonComment

Lewis reportedly got a guarantee that he will be allowed to face Tyson after Tyson's July 13 bout against Seldon at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and a multimillion-dollar offer.
Lewis' lawsuit originated from his claim that he was improperly overlooked when the WBC permitted Frank Bruno to fight Tyson in March because Lewis had earned the right to face the champion after winning a title-elimination fight in May 1995.
"The WBC was informed later that promoter Don King and Lewis representative Panos Eliades had reached an agreement for the Tyson vs Lewis fight. The fight was to be held in March, 1997, and would have paid Lewis $15-18 million (which included the step-aside fee for the Seldon and Holyfield fights). We were also informed that this agreement could not be finalized because the HBO network had an exclusive promotional deal with Lewis, and would not accept the fight unless Lewis was to fight Rid**** Bowe first, another fighter promoted exclusively by HBO, and fulfill other commitments.Comment

that is a past it tyson. The young mike Tyson Vs Peak Holmes is a different fight all toghether, same as if he had fought Holyfield and Lewis at his peak I wouldn't have bet against himComment

Which completely agrees with what I posted before. He agreed to fight him, but was not willing to give Lewis 15M. What had Lewis done to deserve that amount of the purse?

SPORTS PEOPLE: BOXING; Lewis Agrees to Defend His Title Against Tucker
Published: February 23, 1993
World Boxing Council heavyweight champion LENNOX LEWIS signed a contract yesterday for a mandatory defense against TONY TUCKER , Lewis's promoter, DAN DUVA , said.
Duva said the bout would be at a site and date to be determined by promoter DON KING , who submitted the winning purse bid of $12.2 million on Feb. 4. King is expected to stage the bout May 8 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Last week, Lewis's manager, FRANK MALONEY , blamed King for holding up the signing by asking for more money. Maloney said W.B.C. rules entitled Lewis to 80 percent of the $12.2 million purse, but that King demanded a 75-25 split instead. (AP)Comment
