For the record I would say he was prime from Berbick until he went to prison
His decline started after the Spinks fight when he fired Rooney. Its impresive that he was able to beat Ruddock without his effective head movement.

Dude, we have already gone over this. Lewis was asking for too much money

Lewis himself would do the same thing on two occasions

              True
It showed he had solid intangibles back then, considering the amount of bombs he ended up taking

We have already gone over this. Theres no way you're gonna convince anyone Lewis shouldve been paid the same amount to fight Tony Tucker as he should have to fought Tyson in what wouldve been (and was eventually) the biggest money fight in history. Stop it.

Look the total fight purse for Lewis-Tucker was 12.5m. Lewis as the wbc champion was entitled to 80% of the money hence he got 10m and Tucker got 2.5m. I don't know what the purse for Lewis Tyson would of been, as a guess around 40m. Hence, Tyson as the wbc champion takes 30m(75%) and Lewis gets 10m(25%)
W.B.C. rules entitled Lewis to 80 percent of the $12.2 million purse, but that King demanded a 75-25 split instead. (AP)

Or are you saying the wbc rules should only be followed when they benefit Lewis?

What had Lewis done back than to be considered a major draw? By the time he fought Tyson in 2002 he had, had a number of fights in America with two popular fights with Holyfield. Back in 1996 his two American fights were a bore war with Tucker and a controversial win over Mercer.

Were the WBC rules followed when they made Tyson no1 contender coming out of prison? LOL....*** outta here.

Lewis was neccesarily a "major draw" but he was probably the best HW in the world at the time and the biggest threat to Tyson. Hence the fight would've been huge.
