Guys that are all bigger, stronger and faster. Good amateur foundations/fundamentals are essential. He has to become comfortable with the deceptive kind of long reach Floyd has.

Good jabs and not too timid to try and rough Cotto up in training. They shouldn't try and see Floyd as a defensive specialist. Cottos way to victory is sharp timing of the jab, coming in jabbing with his head/chin down and slightly to the side and heavy body work. They should also try to "corral" and physically bully floyd to the ropes/corners. When he puts his elbow up, don't punch but give him alittle push just to set his balance off and then step to the side and throw body shots

It's not about physical semblance, but more so of his ring IQ, this is what Cotto is going to have to overcome. If he can outsmart Floyd he wins the fight, but if he can't then he's doomed.

I g2g, will continue this chat tomorrow Dan.
Even Freddie Roach said? And that means? Freddie Roach saying that is where the whole idea of Mayweather's leg's being shot came from. Before he made that statment, no one even muttered the idea that Mayweather's leg's are shot.

Fact is, they aren't. Mayweather's never been a dancer, there's only a handful of fights in his career where he exclusively fought on the back foot.

He doesn't "have" to stand and trade at all. He chooses to.

If Mayweather were to attempt to come forward not back peddel like he has done in his last 4 fights and it wasn't working he would go to plan B, C, D, E. At no time does Mayweather "have" to stand still or come forward and have no choice in the matter.

And footwork isn't all about going backwards anyway. Mayweather's footwork is still vastly superior to Cotto's despite the fact he rarely goes backwards at all anymore.

I was wondering how long it would take for an idiot to come and say ****** **** like this. Eventhough he's really small Gary Russell Jr. would do a great job emulating Floyd.

hes too small tho, floyd has much broader shoulders and stronger, longer arms. he couldn't prepare cotto for that. cotto should be with guys with a comparable reach and possibly even more height than Floyd

Maybe Broner. It's almost impossible to be ready. Who knows how Floyd will fight.

Russell is way too small and people tend to forget how strong Floyd actually is and how he uses it

sparring partners should be no smaller than 140s

                      That's why I said he's really small.
