Ok,then what standards are U referring to??If Martinez went to 168 & beat say Coddrington for a vacant strap,at a catchweight, then high tailed it outta there, would that be acceptable??

That makes the difference when comparing Martinez to 168lbers.He didn't beat a cabdriver & isn't going down in history as having owned a belt there. He's never fought on or around there & never tried to sell a history making fight under such clear ill pretenses.Manny doesn't have to fight a real 154lber ever again, but Martinez a career 154lber shouldn't be criticized for trying to fight the cashcow of the sport.

U as fan of his can overlook what he did at 154,I can't.there were real champions there on the outside looking in as Margarito & Pacman fought in their division while they got no action. Now ya bwoy is fighting Granpa Mosley & how much people have U heard criticize Mosley for that, like he really had the power to MAKE Manny choose him or something.
8th belt is a farce.. Understood. Did you get the rest of my post? Understand how you are being hypocritical with Martinez as opposed to Pac? Martinez is too small to fight B-Hop or Ward when the size advantages are not as extreme as Manny vs. Martinez. Yet, Manny is ducking? I already put numbers up and you have yet to respond to that part of the post.

Tell me.. who should Manny have fought? There would be excuses for each and everyone besides Mayweather.. and we all know where Floyd is. I don't like the Mosley fight either.. but who else is left. I'd love to see Pac vs. Marquez/Berto/Bradley/Alexander.. but there would be excuses.

Martinez fight I'd love to see.. and hopefully we see that sometime before Pacquiao retires.. but understand why it hasn't taken place. Even Martinez himself said Pacquiao was too small.

still, that doesn't take away the fact that pac is too small for martinez. that's a true and simple fact that you tried to dispute. you're right though that people should not criticize martinez to seek out a good payday...he deserved it. it just so happened that there's no fight at middleweight right now that he could cash in...unless he wants to move up to super mw

i love pac (tho a little disappointed in picking mosley but w/e) but this WONT HAPPEN.

Even if Manny were OK with it, no way will Roach and his team allow it.
This is a bad fight for Manny, and they need to keep him winning to keep the megastar buzz going.

Well if he saying before the fight we going to 160. I wouldn't care TBH.

Martinez deserves a gimme. And,even Dzinziruk is not a gimme.

Should Martinez go to 168? Absolutely not if he doesn't feel comfortable. Even if he win a bogus belt at a catch-weight if he doesn't feel comfortable at that weight why should he fight there? That is they way I look at it.

I have no problem with Martinez wanting to fight Floyd, Pac, Cotto. After the strong run Martinez had in 2009, 2010, and now with Dzinziruk to start off 2011. And, combine that with his age. I think he deserves a cash out fight with the big names.

To me Pac needs to decide what weight-class he campaigns in. Whatever weight-class he decides to campaign in the fight the best at that weight. Mosley is not it...Stop cherry-picking weight-classes and fighters. Absolutely Pac should stop that he got a pass in 2010 because of the strong run he had in 08 and 09. But, enough with the BS.

I never said Manny is ducking Martinez dude, never. My perspective is strictly from Martinez's point of view. Also I never said Martinez couldn't fight B-Hop at 160,I said they were not the same size.Ur putting words in my mouth if that's what U thought.I never said Martinez doesn't have to fight Ward,I said the fight probably won't happen because Martinez is too small. But also Martinez doesn't have a belt in Wards weight class, now does he??

We can say Pac is too small or whatever.

But, here is the deal if he fights the winner of Cotto-Margarito II in a unification fight. As Arum has implied...Hell Arum has also implied that maybe Pac-Cotto II for a MW title. And, if that happens then you bet your ass he's ducking Martinez.

thats ******, Pacquiao should jsut fight him at 154lbs.

cut the BS. If you want to pretend youre a champ at 154lbs, then actually fight at that weight.

that's just an assumption. if that eventually happens then people can say whatever they want. but right now, let's stick to facts. there's no point arguing about something that has yet to happen.
