...i doubt either rematch is a bigger sell than the other....neither dawson or hopkins bring anything to the table even in thier own hometowns, so lets be real pascal is the big dog here as long as he's the champ, the fights are made in canada...they've pretty much spoken and said dawson is next and by right he should be...much respect pascal at least somebody is operating with a code of ethics...

I think Hopkins is a pretty solid name, especially here in the US, and that's what matters for television.

If I was Pascal I'd relinquish the WBC title and fight Dawson. Only 1 title matters and that's the Ring Magazine/Lineal title, which Pascal already owns.

If he doesn't fight Dawson he could be sued for a lot of money. He can fight BHop afterwards if he wins the rematch with Dawson.

BHop should fight for the vacant WBC title. He'd beat whoever's put in front of him and become the oldest alphabet titlist in history.

Actually, Zsolt Erdei is the lineal light heavyweight champ. However, Pascal does own The Ring magazine belt, which is recognized by most in the hardcore fight community as the legitimate title.

yeah but does he draw? no...hbo passed on pascal/hopkins the first time, and i bet they are not interested in the rematch...plus hopkins makes for unenjoyable, sleep inducing television...above that, its just time for these younger lightheavys to make a name for themselves fighting each other as opposed to thinking they need some old veteran because he has a name (but doesn't draw) to establish credibility...if hopkins wins any lightheavy title you know what he's gonna do...he's gonna find some bigger name middlweights to make catchfights with so he can look good beating them up to the delight of nutthuggers like streetbully and nana690

what pascal should do is tell WBC to kiss his maple syrup covered ass. then when they wrongfully strip him of the title (he has AT LEAST until August to defend the title since Dawson was the mandatory), he can sue the WBC and fold that corrupt org up once and for all.

I'm guessing that HBO passed on Pascal-Hopkins the first time because of how terrible X looked in his rematch with RJ. But seeing how the majority of people think that X beat Pascal in the first fight, combined with him being a bigger name than Dawson, it might make more economical sense for HBO to go with X. Plus, Dawson would still be there for the winner. You wait a year+ to do the rematch with X, its gonna be hard to sell it considering he'll be 47.

i'm quite sure hbo also knows its a strong possibility that X can turn around and stink up the joint in the rematch...plus X may be a bigger name than dawson, but imo not that much bigger of a draw that its millions of dollars on the upside...they should know as long as its pascal on the ticket in canada, they are gonna make more or less the same $ whether its dawson or hopkins...honestly i think hbo is tired of X but we'll see how it goes

Pascal...is stuck between a rock and a hard place! IMO he can't win against either in a rematch. Pascal, contractually, is obligated to fight Dawson and that is where the track ends...with Dawson.
