Sugar Ray Leonard VS Mayweather,pick one plz

I'm gonna say Ray for these obvious reasons 1) Even faster hands and feet than Floyd 2) Naturally the bigger man 3) Ray has fought guys like Benitez,Hagler,Hearns and even Duran twice lol do you think Floyd could handle a prime Duran when he's been wobbled early by the likes of Judah and Mosley haha yeah right!

Leonard every single time, and here's why...

Leonard in his prime was a big welterweight in comparison to guys like Cotto, Pacquiao, and even Floyd for that matter. He was very fast, hit hard, and had great combination punching along with a great ring IQ.

Floyd's prime years were more spent around 135-140lbs as far as his abilities fully flourishing (combination punching, defense, footwork, speed). He's still in great shape as it stands, but I think many of us can say we've seen the best Floyd Mayweather.

Both guys were at different weights in their primes and if this fight were to be at Welterweight, I'd have to go with Leonard.

this and the fact that srl has been in more adverse fighting situations than fmj..

could you imagine what srl would have done to marquez if marquez moved up to 147? he would have been knocked out the ring

Ive talked about this so many times. These threads are just bait threads and people dont even realize how unfair they are just because they hate Floyd. This thread sounds like something Manny Steward and other guys talk about when its not a fair comparison. People always compare Floyd to guys like SRL & Hearns but you can always tell that they are speaking of WW. If you want to compare them then fine but do it in a P4P sense.

Until the JMM fight, Floyd was always a small WW who probably didnt even belong there and never came into the ring over 148 pounds. Meanwhile SRL & Hearns were in there 1st weight class and huge WW's. If you want to make a real comparison then do a WW SRL & Hearns vs a SFW Mayweahter who was also in his 4th weight class. If you do it that way then Floyd easily holds his own. SRL isnt alot faster then as you say. Thats how you compare guys. Do you think Floyd wouldnt have fought anyone at SFW?

Even if you talk about them moving up, Floyd has looked way better at the higher weights then those guys have for the most part. You just have to be fair. You cant ask about a guy in his most prime weight vs a guy at his worst weight. Its about P4P if they arent naturally the same size or dont look the same at the other weights. Floyd isnt super fast and throwing combos like he did at SFW. You can knock Floyd all you want but you cant argue that he's by far one of the most complete fighters to ever come around

When Floyd disrepects these guys and the sport that paved the way for him,and says he's better than SRR,why wouldn't we dislike him.I could care less about all the other bs that came out his mouth! You can be THE BAD GUY without being an idiot,unless your name is Floyd i guess!

He who forgets where he come's from can just as easily get lost on the path towards where he's heading.......

Mayweather by Wide UD .

Mayweather is way more defensively sound , Able to adjust to any opponent on the fly and is a much more supreme counter puncher .

I see leanord being fustrated by floyd .

leanord would be Jumping in with his combos and floyd would just pick his spots and pick him apart .

Leanord also always slowed tremendously later in the fight i have yet too see floyd tire

Yes I am. I'm not one of those guys who nut hugs older fighters. I block all of that out and judge them accordingly.

Floyd is one of the most skilled and cerebral boxers of all time. Not saying Leonard isn't skilled himself, it's just that I feel Floyd is a much better fighter, and it would show if they ever faced off.

FWIW I have both Duran and Tommy Hearns beating Floyd.

but mhen, leonard wasn't just your regular overhyped older fighters from the past. he's as fast as floyd, more power, more footwork and same boxing skills w/ emphasis on offense.
