They said the same thing when Tyson retired and then Oscar. Before PPV they said the same thing after Louis, then came around Robinson, Ali, the golden era and Tyson. What don't you get that boxing has always churned out a new batch of stars in each generation. And no UFC can't easily make a million buys. They had 3, all 3 just edging that number. 2 of those PPVS was from a guy that brought WWF fans in to see his fights and the other from one of their biggest names of all time in their business. UFC has peaked and isn't building superstars.
All PPV buyrates boxing, MMA, and WWE for 2010

"The famous people that you have right now are the only famous people that are going to exist in the future for boxing. The Oscar De La Hoya's,the Bernard Hopkins for Jermain Taylor's - the guys that were already famous before the UFC came along. There will be no new one's".
- Steroid abusing, expert commentator(yes, the UFC has a comedian give expert analysis for their fights
) and failure of a comedian,Joe Rogan in May 2007.
To all the ******s claiming what will happen once Mayweather and Pacquiao leave the sport of boxing, just read the above.Since Joe Rogan made those comments,Mayweather and Pacquiao have emerged - both of whom are far more famous and greater attractions than anyone within MMGAY in the United States.

Problem is there was no UFC in that time. They said the same thing when Tyson retired and then Oscar. Before PPV they said the same thing after Louis, then came around Robinson, Ali, the golden era and Tyson. That's because if you want to see any MMA fighter who is remotely popular you have to pay to see them in a PPV. Boxing has subscriber based outlets like HBO, Showtime, TV Azteca, Sky, ESPN, and Fox Sports. Comparing PPV buys is like comparing apples and oranges. In MMA it's versus or PPV, and versus shows nothing but reruns and the ultimate fighter reality show.Comment

Of course UFC killed it. They put out a PPV Card every month and if I remember correctly, they did 2 PPVs in one month this year. It's no surprise but if you notice, 2 of their biggest draws was with Brock Lesnar who's rumored to retiring from the UFC altogether so it is what it is.
UFC has reached it's peak in popularity and ppv buys IMOComment

When I saw that clown jump and ricochet off the fence and kick his opponent out cold I said to my buddy "MMA will be dead soon". What's the difference between that and a Hulk Hogan off the ropes atomic leg drop? Can you imagine if a boxer used some part of the ring to ricochet and bounce off some kind of punch????? Totally absurd, MMA has been reduced to gimmicks and WWE stunts.Comment

Wow some of you guys are really thick, I can't imagine you lot in research.
UFC put on at least 12 PPV'S a year, sometimes more. Boxing does not have the same model, so why are we comparing the two? Boxing has around 3-5 PPV events a year so obviously even if Boxing had an incredible year of three 1 Million PPV events, the UFC could, in theory have a stinker of a year (i.e. 250,000 per event)) and still get around the same number come the end of the year.
Work out the average number of buys per year to get a fair reflection.Comment
