What Rogan was saying is that Boxing is one Aspect of MMA = Mixed Martial Arts. Boxing is one form of Martial Arts which is one form of Fighting....

Combine Boxing, Mauy Thai, Kick Boxing, Karate, Jui Jitsu, etc.. and you have a full fight using different Arts into a combatitve sport...

In a Street fight Boxing is effective if you only can Box.... but thats not the case. In MMA it teachs you all the art forms of fighting so that even if you get into a street fight you'll be more well equipped and have more weapons to use in a actaul fight...

To me BJJ is the most effective in a fight because the Men and Women in arms forces uses JJ in actual combat h2h..... It doesn't matter how big you are it can be se more effectively.....

Boxing is not hte only Art form out there (hence why its a Martial Art)....

All I have to say is, where are you going to find the range to land/execute an elbow, kick, armbar, triangle, kimora, etc in the 20 second span of a street fight. There's very few aspects of MMA that work in real life. Regular ol' rear nakeds, headlocks/guillotines, and punches. And guess what? Boxing covers 1/3 of what is available to them, and it's arguable the most effective seeing as how the others have to be set up into position where as the hands don't need to be. Street fights aren't "matches" where they can pace themselves and time their kicks and have enough room available to them to hold a clinch without an aggressive escape. Those sort of techniques take time, they can't just execute them without any consequences.

He explains boxing wouldnt be effective in a real street fight, that MMA is more effective since it is as real as it gets

Boxing or MMA are not the same as street fighting for the average person. Most people don't know all those martial arts moves you see in MMA or even real boxing moves. Sure people know how to punch, wrestle, or get you in a head lock, but that stuff comes natural. Joe Rogan is an idiot for trying to compare MMA to street fighting when street fighting has nothing to do with real MMA. Its also not boxing. Fighting is all personal choice and not every guy wrestles, there's plenty of people that throw punches. If MMA wants to separate them selves from boxing and draw comparisons, then they need to take out striking because what those guys are doing is boxing. When they roll around on the ground and are separated by the ref and brought back to their feet, the crowd cheers every time. Just goes to show what MMA fans prefer to see.
