Exactly you need a different mindset for a streetfight, I've seen people wh have been decent at muay thai get into a street fight and panic and all of there technique from muay is not there and they got beaten up. Not to say someone couldnt be both a successful boxer and street fighter or that a martial art cant be utilised in a street fight.

Yes boxing is an art. The intent is to prove how effective you can be with limited tools at your disposal i.e. only your fists
If I want to see a street fight I'll go to a night club. As a matter of fact this whole argument is dumb. Joe Rogan is merely talking out of his anus. It is all considered fighting regardless of how they fight.

A sport isn't really a sport if anything goes IMO. Where's the challenge in that?

        so I didn't answer either

          Yep.

In a street fight you have hitting behind the head/ below the belt, biting, head butting...a lot more is involved. Not saying this because I'm a boxing fan...but every fight I've been in, I've rarely rarely had to get on the ground.

The longer a street fight goes the more dangerous it becomes, the most important thing is to KO your opponent as quick as possible...

Humping him on the floor trying to get a submission would be ****** if there were more than 1.

Strong straight punches and sharp close hooks will beat any slugging wide swings from UFC.

              Do U Agree???

He explains boxing wouldnt be effective in a real street fight, that MMA is more effective since it is as real as it gets

              What R U Thinking?
Some guys heads are just too big to knock them out. More likely you will break your hands so wreslting/BJJ would be best against really big guys.

That said, MMA is a real as it gets. No doubt. 2 brawlers trying to take each others heads off and end up wrestling around for 15 minutes if no one stops them. Yup. Thats exactly how it goes down.

Boxing requires discipline. You don't pounce on a downed man, there is no honor in punching out someone who is already down and can't defend themselves.

He can keep it "real" but I prefer to watch professionals ply their trade rather than watch the "Reality TV of Fighting Sports."

And they wonder why MMA is a douche sport. Your "sport" has barely been around and now suddenly it's better than everyone else's. Right.

The myth of MMGAY is that it's somehow the closest thing to "real fighting" there is.I don't know about anyody else, but I don't ever recall a street fight that ended up with two guys rolling around on the ground with their nuts on each others face, pretty much trying to ****** one another.Sorry, that just isn't fighting to me.

Joe Rogan is a 40 something loser that spends much of his days telling bad jokes, commentating on gay p^rnography and rolling around with other men.

Boxing is a sport and art of pugilism but it is not limited to a punching sport. This discipline is usage of body mechanics, footwork, evasion maneuvering, angles, and distance.

It is akin to fencing as a sport wherein it is a disciplined sport. Baseball is another. Soccer too...

The fact that the art and science of boxing is creative use of punching is a start but cunning/strategizing together with physical conditioning, strength, speed, quickness are the other half.

Hmm. Maybe it's just me but in my years in school I've seen plenty of street fights, 14/15 of them were standing up. The 1 fight that wasn't was 2 girls fighting.
