Tarver RUINED Jones ..it wasnt the weight...

They were bums, but i dont think Tarver was anything special. If Jones had beaten him with ease, Tarver would be called a bum also.
Tarver didnt beat anyone that great either, yet he suddenly 'exposed' Roy Jones?
Maybe Jones was just ***** after HW.Comment

uh, a drained roy with no legs and diminished reflexes still managed to beat tarver the first time, what are you talking about? he was a completely different fighter when he went down in weight. age was also catching up to him. you can't deny this.Comment

They can...and will.Comment

Roy couldn't deal with Tarver's southpaw jab, he could get in but couldn't do so safely. Tarver also had his head well defended which reduced Roy to single body shots.
It was a good gameplan, Tarver made Roy look pedestrian and waited for his ego to put him in a dangerous position where he could land a big shot.Comment

Go ahead and keep telling yourself Jones was anything close to the same fighter after moving back down to heavyweight, we know you are all just hating on the man.
It was so obvious his legs were gone, his reflexes were gone, and his speed was suffering. Tarver is so incredibly overrated off those fights it pisses me off. Jones beat guys twice Tarver's ability, with ease. He made a career being called a cherry picker beating guys the level of Tarver.Comment

He beat tall southpaws with jabs. That wasn't an issue.Roy couldn't deal with Tarver's southpaw jab, he could get in but couldn't do so safely. Tarver also had his head well defended which reduced Roy to single body shots.

Roy's body was clearly not the same. If you look at him you can clearly see it. Tarver was a good fighter who was the rigth place at the right time witht he right motivation. This fight had so much depth to it....You had a guy in Jones who couldnt enjoy his biggest win (Heavyweight Championship) Tarver harrasses him in the postfight press conference.....Roy wants to fight Mike or Evander those fights fall through and he keeps the date and fights Tarver....the prefight interview showed a terrible looking Jones with Larry Merchant....he barely wins a decision but did not show any of the signature flash and his only clean punches were shots to the body....In the rematch Jones pressed the action but he looked soft in the body but still did not show the signature handspeed and reflexes.....The Tarver punch was not a lucky punch he attempted to throw that punch about seven times in the fight...The thought was to sling with the gunslinger Tarver's was straighter and shorter....The legend got knocked out and hasn't been the same since. Tarver deserves credit for ruining Jones to an extent but he didn't get prime Jones but you know what he was the first to really get the best of Roy ever. Griffin and Mc Callum frustrated him but with Tarver we saw the human version of Roy.
Prime Roy Toys with Tarver all the way to a Ud. The same way Dawson didComment

I'd agree with that.Jones was a lot sharper in the rematch than he was in the first bout but there were clear signs that he was no longer the same fighter. For starters, his legs were completely gone. He stood flat-footed right in front of a big, long powerful lefty like Tarver. He didn't even do that against Richard Hall. Second, Antonio Tarver is pretty effin good. And to the idiot who pointed out Tarver was 35 as well...yeah, except he had stopped boxing for many years and came into the Jones fights with, what, 20 fights under his belt? Logic helps.
RJJ was slipping and Tarver pushed him off that cliff.Comment
