Yeah, I'm not sure why fighters are so eager to fight here. Unless Hbo hypes the **** out of you and your fight, you'll probably draw 5000k people max.

This whole thing about fighting in the U.S is a ****** myth. Unless they're doing it for hbo money, there's no reason to come here because the sport is dead here and you'll most likely fight in an empty venue.

The Klitschko's are doing the right thing.

America runs boxing, get used to it. The casinos put down more money than any other place in the world. If there were more lucrative places, the events would be held there. The end.

That ain't the point though. It's not about how many asses fill up the seats. It's all about the mula and the casinos are throwing down enough to keep the big fights.

I actually wonder how many people on here that mock attendances have ever thrown down real cash to go to a big fight. I've spent good money on big fights in America but how many of these people from the U.K or whatever country are willing to put down 500 to a grand to go see live boxing? I doubt many would pay the premium rates that it costs to go see a HBO WCB/PPV in Vegas.

Yer, cause we should all be willing to put that sort of money down to watch a fight?

And people wonder why the arse is falling out of boxing?

I'm not saying I support it but that is what a big fight demands and people are willing to pay it. Until the demand dwindles Vegas is always going to get the nod on big fights, even if the attendance is low.

I look at this way. It's Vegas, you know you're staying at least 2 days, probably more. Right there you're dropping 2 to 500 dollars. Then on top of that you know you're doing some ********, what else you gonna do? So you drop another one or two hundred(if you're lucky to stop at that) at the tables. Then, you're out in the desert, you're gonna eat at the buffets and the diners. So, pretty much a short 3 day weekend in Vegas besides the 300 to 1000 bucks on a ticket is gonna cost bare minimum a grand, maybe 2 grand a pop. What city is gonna be able compete with that? Who can drop 15 million on a big fight and make their money back strictly on tickets sales? It's just not feasible, no one can compete with MGM/Mirage.

Boxing needs to go back to its working class roots.

Maidana-Khan in either England or Argentina would have been great.
Marquez should be fighting in Mexico for the rest of his career and he'll be fine.

Agreed, fights like these should take place elsewhere

The thing is the fighters get guaranteed more money fighting in Vegas/US. So they trade less fans seeing them for more money. It's stuff that your promoters/advisers/managers handle. They know what's best for you and them, they want the most money for you because that = more money for them. Foreign fighters come to US knowing they won't sell out arenas like they do at home, but they get bigger checks.

maybe people like to fight there cos its a neutral home ground for both fighters?

don't think too many would want to go to england or argentina to fight

but i agree and hopefully we see less fights in the u.s in the future, we have bases in europe now and maybe we can start having more fights moved to mexico and south america
