Maybe shouldnt be so harsh on Roach. Khan will be a better fighter next fight. Pac was definately still improving in his last fights.
So its work in progress. Khan isnt at his peak yet, and maidana wasnt a mug. Maybe not the ideal opponent to try your new tecniques out on.

Harsh? Larry just started a thread to ask a question...don't be sensitive.
You have to wonder if Roach any good at defensive tactics as he is with the offensive tactics. Manny is still susceptible to uppercuts as was shown by Cotto, Clottey and Margarito and still Roach has failed to correct those flaws. Roach did admit he had not practiced boxing on the ropes after the fight and that is a concern. But if Amir had just stuck to the game plan of using the jab as a deterrent then Maidana would have been much easier to handle. Maidana always ducks head down when he goes for his hayemaker right over the top and yet Khan got caught slipping.
There is a lot of room for improvement in Khan's case and although he has a lot of talent I wonder if he will ever become a great champion.
So your saying that Roach who has been a trainer for years and years doesnt know how to teach how to block a uppercut??? Its obvious both Manny and Kahn do that to either rest or tire their opponent. If there going to do that Roach cannot stop them, hes not the one fighting. To say that Roach cannot teach how to defend a uppercut is ******ed. Its defense 101 and if they choose not to defend against it, Roach is limited to what he can do standing outside the ring during the fight.
You know this may sound dumb.... in fact it definitely does. But maybe Roach just doesn't see uppercuts as a knockout punch? I mean Manny was eating uppercut against Cotto, Roach didn't mention...Clottey, Margarito same thing.....Roach didn't say a thing? Khan against Maidana...same thing? Maybe he feels with their chin tucked in and gloves covering the chin and temple, that the uppercut isn't that dangerous a punch. I mean Khan ate uppercut all night and then one huge right hand to the chin is what changed the fight in round 10...so maybe it's true? Uppercut's can be ruthless, but when the chin is tucked in, maybe Roach see's it as something that isn't too big a deal. There is no other explanation to it for me.
