why didnt roach offer any real advice in khans corner??

1-didnt tell him to go back to the body

2-didnt tell him he was getting hit with those uppercuts over and over again

he bascially didnt say any damn thing

he should have told khan to smash up that body, i was shocked at his poor tactics, specially in the 2nd round

You have to wonder if Roach any good at defensive tactics as he is with the offensive tactics. Manny is still susceptible to uppercuts as was shown by Cotto, Clottey and Margarito and still Roach has failed to correct those flaws. Roach did admit he had not practiced boxing on the ropes after the fight and that is a concern. But if Amir had just stuck to the game plan of using the jab as a deterrent then Maidana would have been much easier to handle. Maidana always ducks head down when he goes for his hayemaker right over the top and yet Khan got caught slipping.

There is a lot of room for improvement in Khan's case and although he has a lot of talent I wonder if he will ever become a great champion.

in manny fights i hear roach giving good advice..but it almost seemed like he didnt even wanna be there for khan

Even Bradley is giving khan advice even though he maybe fighting khan oneday "He needs to learn how to tie up, how to block an uppercut, how to isolate somebody coming at him without moving so much. He still has a lot to learn".

That Khan uses a lot of energy moving away, but Maidana was right in front of khans face still.

I noticed this and have a few thoughts...

Freddie although the best trainer, could definitely improve his defensive training side for his guys. The exposure to uppercuts needs sorting.

Second, I actually think Roach can be different physically and mentally at times due to what we often underestimate cos of his achievements, but his serious illness in Parkinsons.

At times in interviews and fights he seems overwhelmed, over exerted, and not able to quite do physically, or say what he'd like to. He seems to struggle imo.

There's no reason why he shouldn't by usual form, gotten angry with Amir and really had a lot to say like he usually does. But I think he was stunned and struggling a little.

If you think it's the job of the corner to tell Amir specifically what how to avoid the uppercut you're mistaken. Roach is focused on tactical adjusents and things that Amir won't see or notice while he's fighting off maidana, a trained killer. He was telling him to move off the ropes. What else do you want?
