Comments Thread For: Amir Khan Badly Hurt, Holds On To Beat Maidana

Come on, another big shot would've finished. Khan obviously deserved to win, and he took Maidana's best shots and came through it well but theres no need to pretend he wasn't rocked a couple of times.
Even the best fighters get hurt, although I do disagree with BPP putting it in the thread title, shows a lack of respect for Khan's performance and doesn't tell the full story at all.
i think he did that for wazza hahaha!Comment

Joe Cortez screwed Maidana over. Khan won no doubt, but that isn't to say Maidana couldn't have won if not for Cortez's continuous breaking the fighters up when one fighter (which just so happens to be Maidana) had one free hand. If he'd have let Maidana throw that hand like he was trying to do, there's not telling what could have happened. And Cortez was breaking them up like Crazy FOR NO REASON.
Someone remind me why he's enterting the hall of fame?Comment

Khan showed a lot of heart tonight and while I do think the moved up has helped him take a shot better, he's always going to have a vulnerability about him. I'm not sure that despite his large frame for 140, he'll be able to climb up the weight classes.
Khan showed some fantastic physical abilities and good boxing skills; his jab is really good when he uses it. But he still needs work. His defense is a bit leaky and fights too square and in straight lines too often. Also, his inside game is bad. If he's not going to be able to control distance, he's gonna need to work on that a lot.Comment

So scared that Khan stood and traded with Maidana on several occasions, and abandoned his usual gameplan to prove he isn't afraid to go to war with a ****er.Comment

I had heard the phrase "Saved by the bell", but this was a case of "Saved by the Ref".
Cortez saved Khan's a$$ tonite.

I think anyone who is unbiased would agree that he won that fight. But King at 140?
Not yet, Tim Bradley is still the man at 140.Comment
