Considering that he also beat at the time was considered the 2nd best SBW, having 3 lineal titles, being a 4 divisional champ...
Being the only fighter in history to win the lineal Flyweight championship and the lineal featherweight championship. 2 weight-classes that are from the original 8. Which has over 100 years of history is very impressive...
I would say yes he was a first ballot HOF'er...WTF?IMO quality of opposition and the skill level they held at the time means more than beating fighters on the decline for just a lineal title...
it appears you are legitimizing his greatness just cuz he got lineal titles.....
I hope you arent praising the Cotto catchweight win and the margarito title fight farce as wellComment

Robert Apodaca- so bummy, doesn't even have a record listed. Where did they find this guy? Skid row? A bit more research finds that RA, the only RA that Floyd could beat on, was in his very first fight at the time he faced Floyd.
Weights: Mayweather 131 lbs., Apodaca 130 lbs.
SO
Reggie Sanders- world beater with a 1-1 record. I think he beat Leon Spinks.
Weights: Mayweather 131 lbs., Sanders 132.5 lbs.
Jerry Cooper - 6-3. a step up, but again, as with the two previous champions Floyd faced, it was against smaller men.
Weights: Mayweather 130 lbs, Cooper 129.5 lbs
ASO
Edgar Ayala - another Skid Row Promotions brawler with no record listed. Further research reveals this was his very first fight as well. I think this is the first fight to give a sign of what happens when Floyd steps up his competition. It gets a bit rough, so he lowers the standard for his next opponent, in this case, Edgar Ayala.
*its been said Ayala was picked because he was a good draw with the LA underpass crowd.
Weights: Mayweather 133 lbs, Ayala 131 lbs
ASO
Kino Rodriguez - This tall guy at 5 feet five and half inches came into the ring as Floyds most regarded and experienced opponent.
9-9-2 with 3 coming by stoppage or KO.
Weights: Mayweather 132 Rodriguez 130.
ASO
Bobby Giepert - Floyd, feeling invincible after defeating the Kong-like Kino, steps up in talent opposition again to take on the like sized Bobbo with a record of 19-8 (6 losses by KO at that time).
Weights: Mayweather 132 lbs, Giepert 133 lbs
*lets give a handclap here folks, he fought someone who finally wasn't smaller.
Tony Duran - The amazing 12-15 Tony Duran. Amazing in that up to that point, 12 fights ended by stoppage or KO, of Duran, not for!
Weights: Mayweather 129 Duran 133
* we like this, Floyd fighting guys similar in stature. Way to go big boy!
Larry O'shields - all five foot 6 of him with his gaudy and flamboyant record of 12-3-1 with 5 KOs, by him. Floyd getting a bit braver by the fight!
Weights: Mayweather 132 O'shields 131.75
ASO
Jesus Chavez - before you soil your chonies with seminal residue, let me remind you, not that Jesus Chavez, but the 1-13-1 Jesus Chavez. Did I mention that 11 of those 13 losses were by KO or stoppage?
1-13-1. In case you were wondering, Chavez stood a Godzilla-like 5 foot 5. Well, only if you had the toy.
Weights: Mayweather 130.5 Chavez 130
ASO
Louie Leija - Floyd steps it up big time, in a big way. Slaying the like sized Leija in 2 rounds knocking him down a few times. Heres the downer, and its totally not unlike Floyd,
but this was after Louie had just suffered a KO loss in his previous fight. Starting to notice some patterns developing. Floyd for some reason, can't stand latino fighters.
Weights: Mayweather 131 Leija 132
Felipe Garcia - The "Sears Tower" in boxing, standing in at a whopping 62 inches, here you have an opponent who was 20-18 at the time, but had been the loser in 10 of his previous 13 fights. It took Floyd 6 rounds to KO the midget in denial.
Weights: Mayweather 133.5 Garcia 130
ASO

Me: I think SRL is better than Floyd.
Yesir: Floyd's defense is much better and his ring IQ is higher. i think Floyd would outpoint Ray.
Me: I think SRL is Better than Manny
Pacdbest: What is Ray gonna do when Manny is throwing 100 power punches per round at his face? Ray got KTFO's by featherfist crossdresser camacho lmao omg

I mean Zoo for awhile cleaned out the division and beat top rated fighters like Mitchell, Mago, Hurtado, Urkal, Tackie, Pineda, Ruelas, and Leija was also rated...And, only Urkal and Tackie lasted the distance. And, besides Leija and possibly Ruelas every one of those was in their prime... I mean he was a force...
Pedroza had wins over Olivares, Lockridge, and a prime Laporte(he was washed up when Zoo beat him), Taylor, Kim, and Lastra...
Eh........I honestly think you can make a case for either fighter to be greater. I think they both accomplish just as much as each other.Comment

I never understood this. Do you seriously believe Manny works harder than every other boxer in the gym or something? The guy who shows up weeks late, takes days off during camp, changes his conditioning program, films movies, does karaoke, doesn't heed trainer commands...yet they still expect people to believe he has this oh so incredible regimen that allows him to do all of that and show up in incredible condition. And you wonder why people are su****ious.Comment
